lol, Qing descendent? you guys were the people who thought horseback was the way to go. abandoned all science in china. back in Ming dynasty, they even had cannons. didn't your first leader get killed by one of those cannons? and yet, for the next 300 years, almost no scientific advances were made, while the west went ahead. and, you guys didn't really win anything. it was chinese general let you guys in because there were rebellions within already. and ming emperor died from chinese rebels, not from manchus. you guys are one of the luckiest group ever. i am not 100% han as well, i'm multiple ethnici group, but having a manchu at this point would be completely BS. i don't know what kind of manchu you are, i've known many manchu chinese, none of them have your mentality. heck, do you even know any manchu culture? as far as i know, it doesn't really exist anymore, it's merged into han culture. any emperor from now on, will have to be han. well, that's what we have right now anyways isn't it? the president is basically the emperor. i don't see anything wrong with that.

BUT, after all, we are all chinese. so ya. i'm done. :D no racism in china. we all look the same :D

Here's a question to the BORG posters here:
if E.T. witness Tibetan monks getting beat down by the police in China
    what would he think?

    1. Its ok cause Americans beat down the Indians
    2. Its ok cause Tibet is not real, China is real
    3. Innocent humans beaten down by humans with sticks

    Answer:
    3.
Cause he views the creatures as humans and he doesn't want to get beaten down like a Tibetan Monk, so he calls up his pals to phone home and get the f$%k out of here!

Actually the story I heard was that the General commanding some gate in the Great Wall let the Manchus in because the Emperor had take his favorite concubine. I wasn't serious about the Qing ascendancy. We did get rid of footbinding though (i think).

anyone who believes that INNOCENT PEOPLE like Tibetan monks getting beat down is ok is BORG.

Chinese people actually think freely and have opinions. BORG people don't care about human beings.

are you cool with those monks getting beaten down?

    I'm Irish by heritage.

My understanding is there were a lot of Nazi sympathizers in Ireland during WWII. Mostly because the enemy of your enemy (Great Britain) is your friend.

I think that sucks. I think any support for any group that dehumanizes people like that is nothing short of evil. And should be stopped. I would never stoop low enough to defend that.

I don't have to be not Irish to get that. People are more important than policies.

Instigating a North-South intra china smackdown could be an interesting diversion for this thread. Biggie from the Northside and Tupac from the South = fallen heroes

it's ok dude. i think, Qing didn't allow footbinding, but not enforced to the Han people. so most Han women (unless really poor) did footbinding. as for the gate, what happened was, the Ming emperor killed himself when the rebel entered Beijing and officially ended Ming dynasty. and the general (Wu San Gui), was thinking about joining the rebel until some rebel general took his girl. and that completely pissed him off. so he opened the gate for the manchus to take out the rebels while the rebels were all drunk from celebrations. and the general who opened the gate and two other generals, were given the title of "king" and given 3 provinves in southwest china. they later rebeled but was put down. another general in Taiwan, rebelled, and wanted to restore Ming dynasty. but they were taken out by the Qing eventually. and some became pirates.

nobody is afraid of him. heck, he even said that he is chinese, and that taiwan is part of china, and that he doesn't want independence. i don't care if he goes back to china or not. the bottom line, no independence. that's all.

Exactly what aspect of my statements were totally false?
    >I'm a pretty forgiving kind of guy, ...you don't know me

    >...but if we loose all that is Tibet because of the Chinese govenment, ...where is the false-ness of this statement? Remember that I used the word "IF".

    >I will personally make it my mission to fight Tibets fight. ...Nothing false about that statement.

    >We fricken let the taliban destroy those beautiful icons. ...they did and we did nothing.

    >We, as a world people should NEVER allow that to happen again, under any circumstance. ...nothing false about that.

    >The desctruction of a culture is a TERRIBLE thing. Just terrible and unforgivable. ...nothing false about that either.

And, for everyone's sake, use history to learn from, not as a way to throw it back into people's faces just to rationalize what your believe now.

You have a great country (assuming you're from China). I surely wish the best for them (Hell, China was on our side in Red Dawn). I wouldn't be surprise if China becomes a world leading economy one day, but damn don't do it on the backs of America's history. THat's chicken ****.

well, in reality, it doesn't matter how you get to the top. if you are on top, nobody dare to do anything against you. that's how it is.

I don't think a lot of Chinese trust the typical "Western" idealogues. To them, it was the same West that tried to carve up the country in the 1800's and force opium down their throats. Yeah it happened a long time ago - but remember that Hong Kong was still part of UK until recently. Likewise - a lot of Native Americans probably don't trust US-Americans as do other victims of Euro-colonialization such as Africa, South America, etc.

I don't think the development/repression (?) of Tibet is the cause of China's economic development.
