aloe vera is superb get the plant cut off one of the leaves then cut that is half and cut out the clear gel and wipe that on the sunburnt skin, make sure not to get the yellow liquid on ya, it tastes fouls.
time--it heals all wounds i had lots of that kinda blistering whan i was a kid and it really sucks. i feel ya man. some old wizzard told me to take a HUGE amount of asprin and that would reverse the effects of the burn--i tried it and it worked! just plain old asprin--not extra strength i do not recoment it, and i havent tried it again, cuz it just seemed wrong.
DonnyMost, Thanks for posting the pic. And yeah, that's exactly what my sunburn looked like. All over my shoulders and upper-arms. Couldn't sleep for a week. You were a little more prudent than me; I never read the warnings on the Solarcaine bottle. I threw caution to the wind. That said, I used the stuff on a sunburn that looked just like yours, and it did seem to help. For what it's worth, I never had any scarring or anything. (Possibly some more freckles. But I had freckles there anyway). I hope you're feeling better! Let us know how it heals. edited to add: also, i think that they probably give the disclaimer just so you won't be able to sue them for not properly "healing" a third degree burn or anything. I really doubt that it's actually harmful. But then I'm no doctor.
Just curious as to why you changed your mind. Sunburns are bad things. When in doubt, a health professional should be consulted. Folks can get various kinds of skin cancer from a sunburn 30 years prior. People are better off spending the money for an office visit to a doctor to potentially avoid serious health problems in the future. Why don't you want to go to a doctor?
Avoid a-holes who might think it cute to slap your shoulder and laugh. Seriously, I was burned that badly about a year ago, I missed two days work because I refused to even try putting a shirt on that stuff. Honestly I think mine was worse than that, my entire back was in similar\worse condition to yours. You will find that unlike normal sunburn yours will not peel. You've got atleast second degree burns there, the skin will be dry, itchy and flakey for awhile. You will see brown spots also, the skin is cooked. Best of luck man.
I didn't want to go to a doctor because my family is on a very tight budget right now, and I just went to the doctor two weeks ago for my chronic back pain. I'm feeling better now though. The solarcaine wasn't a miracle medicine, it helped the minor burns but it kind of hurt on the more serious burns. I ended up using a lot of Thermozine, a prescription cream that they use in hospitals on motorcycle accident victims who are all road rashed up. Fortunately we had a bottle in our medicine cabinet from years ago. My blisters are gone and the swelling has subsided. But before that I was having to sleep in a shirt and wake up with the shoulders completely covered in puss and blood. I'm shedding my skin like it's going out of style though. I hate the sun.
