Can someone explain to me why the Suns would even consider trading away Shawn Marion for any variation of KT/Walt/Drew? [sarcasm]"Yeah, let's trade our starting small forward who scores without the ball, runs the floor, and is the perfect match for Penny/Kidd, for KT (who is a decent player, but we already have Gugliotta, Cliff, and Rogers at the same position), Walt, and Bryce Drew."[/sarcasm] No GM in his right mind would trade anything of substance for Walt Williams (unless we threw in Cato too) and his contract. Bryce Drew is Moochie Norris' backup...they already have Randy Livingston, and the best point guard in basketball. You want Shawn Marion?...Give them Kelvin Cato (which I actually might consider doing..). As for Rodney Rogers, same story. They are stacked at power forward with CliffRob and Googs. If they traded Rodney Rogers it would be for defensive help, not Kenny Thomas. You guys are way overvaluing our players. Kenny Thomas is a nice, young player who I really like, but be realistic...you will not receive much in trade for him. Take a look at all the rosters in the NBA: aside from the Clippers and Golden State Warriors, Kenny Thomas would not start for any other team. Again, I am not knocking Kenny Thomas, but realistically speaking, he does not have the trade value you all are making him out to have. I would be ecstatic to get a draft pick for Drew. Walt is a chump. Our only options to land a starter via trade this summer are: [*]Receive high priced/disgruntled player using trade exception as other team attempts to clear cap room. [*]Trade Cato. Actually I think after talking about two key players they wanted ... Odom: "Yeah right CD, yake a walk!" Kandi: "Well we'll consider it,CD, but give us Cato somewhere in the deal." and of course the many different attempts at the #3 slot ...... After all that the Rockets still liked the switch hitter SF/PF Tyrone Nesby. So do I. We would have to move at least one of our guys (Walt, KT, Los or Jason Collier) to give him any playtime. And, unfortunately if the Clippers do not sign Mo Taylor they will keep Nesby. Even if they sign him they may keep Tyrone also. Irregardless, they wouldn't take Carlos for Nesby, and that would be ideal IMHO. I would trade Walt (I know, I know, hell, he's in everyone one of my wish list trade scenarios ....... LOL), Los, KT and Drew for Anderson and Nesby in a three way. With Nesby staying in Houston and Anderson going somewhere to get us another switch hitting SF/PF. Someone like Rogers in Phx. I could live with that. But CD/RT will not trade Walt and they really like KT especially his low cost, low maintenance, and overall growth. Cab I agree with you on our penchat for overstating the value of our fringe players. And, consequently the easy way we portray the ability to acquire either Marion or Rogers for little or no expenditure. But I disagree with you and a lot of others on the value of Drew. His value ebbs and floes at times. But right now, a PG with good fundamentals, is young, healthy, coachable, basically does what he is asked to do, can shoot the trey reasonably well, has a nice floater and is not afraid to drive and is a well above average passer ..... is at a premiumm. Randy Livingston is an excellent passer, one of the better passing guards that ever played for the Rockets, IMHO, but .... he can't shoot. Which takes away from his threat to score ability. That is essential in a Point guard. If he even had a passable shot he would be much more effective at the point. Drew gives them that. And at a cheap price and an easy contract. Drew has not been traded yet, because CD hasn't had any offers. It's because CD and company also see his value as somwhat better than most here on this BBS. ------------------ "Those Rockets are driving you crazy,Dad!" ........ "Ya, I know. Ain't it great!"
How about trading Kelvin Cato for Darius Miles or Cory Maggette. Do u think the clippers would be willing to give up Miles or Maggette to get Cato? ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
