Same guy who barely plays and constantly gets sent to G League? Also shot .194 FG% and 0.91 3P% in 5 SL games with Lakers IN 21-22. I suppose he can dunk really well.
Not everyone on the 12 man roster is good enough to consistently play in an NBA rotation. This is typical in almost all the teams in the league. Who said he was scheduled to play in the regular rotation? If Cam wasn’t good enough and if they are concerned about Reed why would he be playing big minutes? I would assume the Rockets will go with a 3 man rotation at guard with Amen playing with fred and Reed or Holliday. Also no one said Williams was Lebron. No one.
Well both Cam and Nate make about the same salary (which is pathetic) and the Rockets feel Nate’s upside is greater than Cam as they kept him and he’s scheduled to see minutes off the bench (at this time), so many people in the organization think very highly of him. I certainly do not as he is simply the worst player to ever wear a Rocket uniform and there have been some bad ones (i.e., Thomas Hamilton, etc). Nate’s in a class all by himself! As someone else posted in this thread, he should be selling insurance or real estate instead of playing basketball.
Harris seems interesting to me. Had a lot of lapses on defense. He seems to have some control and one on one ability. Had an uneven game. Not terrible. Dante could have been more aggressive with rebounding and couple defensive lapses but I thought he was solid for the most part with 3 blocks 2 steals. He is who he is-a lob threat that can defend paint and perimeter. Reminds me of Capella. Chandler had a great game and I’m very impressed with his quickness, speed and decision making. He’s one to watch. Reminds me of Jeff Teague back in the day.
On a more positive note, does anyone know if Reed’s playing today? He sat the end of last game out with a minor calf injury and my guess is they he’ll sit out today to let it heal and not risk anything for a SL game.
Harris was objectively awful. He was out of control, had tunnel vision on offense, and was nothing special on defense. Not sure why he’s getting a shot on a 2 way deal? Six hard fouls? Was Stone so excited after the Durant deal that he spent zero time on the SL roster?
I bet if you look down any NBA roster you would see players like Nate or worse. Not everyone can get consistent minutes in the rotation in an NBA game. That’s why these guys never play unless the team really needs them or they may play a few minutes situationally. There’s obviously something in his game the coaching staff likes and thinks worthy of having him on the roster. You aren’t a coach and you don’t watch him play every day. He only got 515,000 guaranteed out of that deal he signed last year and this year he is non guaranteed unless he’s on the roster opening night according to sports trac. Thats half the rookie min salary. Great for him he could get paid a little bit and get this far chasing after his dream. Can’t hate on that.
He had an uneven game not terrible. I don’t understand why you expect so much out of a 2 way player especially after one game. Cooper Flagg after all shot terribly in his first game. Harris played well in G League. Explosive player who Can dribble drive and shoot 3s. This likely caught the scouts attention and they’re giving him an opportunity. Let’s see what he can do the rest of SL.
Echoing some of the other posters, I want to see more pick and roll action with Reed and 3-4 lobs or pocket passes to big men. It may be tough with the other teams collapsing the paint with our awful shooting. Fewer heat checks as well. Just keep making good plays and stay in front of your man on defense.
Tip @ 3:00PM CDT Should actually start on time since it's the first game at Thomas & Mack today. If Reed doesn't play, mods please burn this post.
The commentary was correct. Reed has elite court vision and the ability to make the pass that comes from seeing that. Like Sengun, like Amen. None are traditional “facilitators”, but you could run your offense through any of them.
