It's summer league so not really that important but our team is so, so bad outside of Reed. Even by my low summer league standards. Just a whole bunch of scrubs who look like they have no business on an NBA floor. It was like this last summer also.
We're not a development team anymore, Rockets dont care about SL or any of the players there apart from Reed, it's the Reed Sheppard show.
Shitty summer league roster. Kennedy Chandler looked worthy of at least being on the court, and of course Reed, but most of the rest are scrubs. Not much to see out there to be honest. And Vegas is HOT.
That was sort of painful to watch lol - there’s not a lot of NBA talent on the Rockets summer roster… even end of the bench talent. Reed looked rusty for much of the game, but had flashes of what I expected. Williams and Harris showed a couple of good moments each and Chandler did well being aggressive and staying relatively efficient offensively. Dante… well he was a bit frustrating… and I was definitely frustrated watching the end of the game Hopefully we look a little better game 2… but at least our game wasn’t a blow out like the game before it!
Saw most of the game. My big take-away is that Reed was aggressive and confident on both sides of the ball. He’s going to be able to force turnovers. Those quick hands are a translatable skill. He doesn’t give up on D, even when he gets beat. Nice to see his shot fall in the 2nd half. But he’s got a long way to go on the handles and taking care of the ball. The point guard skills aren’t there yet. But you can tell he’s a special player. I’m very excited to see more on Sunday. the rest of the team was very hard to watch. I mean, wow. Harris looked terrible. It’s time to move on from Nate Williams. Dante doesn’t look like an NBA player. We just don’t have anyone else that’s remotely intriguing on this summer league squad.
Harris and Chandler both looked great relative to their minutes played. 4 steals in 17 minutes is exactly what Ime wants out of a rotation guard. I watched Great Osobor with Washington. He's a very disciplined player and could blossom into another Tate with time and coaching. Danny Sprinkle brought him over with him from Utah State. He's a very defensive minded coach. Don't be surprised if Osobor becomes the sleeper UDFA. He won't be a star, but he has the potential to be a significant role player.
That’s because he attempted 15 threes. Much more aggressive offensively driving. But made some bad decisions forcing it that’s why he shot overall 40% Also rarely throws to the roll man of high screen. Instead he liked zipping it cross court to the corner or wing. His defensive tenacity seemed a bit improved. Still gambles off his man throwing the rotation off or going for a steal letting a guy blow past him. Needs to stop these bad habits.
Nate Williams is on a standard deal converted from a 2 way. Dante has potential to be a very solid defensive center and lob guy. The other 2 way belongs to Roddy
Signs of life. While the overall impression was that of aggression, he still shows the tendencies of a floater. Much like Jabari. But he's young. Don't see an impact PG out there yet, just a guy who could shed some minutes at the position. Need 'em to make the game smoother and easier for his teammates. The brains of the operation on the floor.
'We are not a Developmental Summer League team any longer. We only and mostly field scrubs that would not make the roster.'
