Nope. You're mistaken like the guy said. Beasley, Heat roll past Bulls http://sports.espn.go.com/keyword/search?searchString=Beasley&page=espn Beasley struggles in second summer league game http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nba&id=3478882
my bad, but i'm sure greene will struggle sometime in the SL and hopefully nobody goes ballistic and trashes him. just keep watching for his aggressiveness, shot selection, team-play...
Of course he will eventually. That should not diminish that he scored 40 pts 3 rebs 3 asts in his first game as a pro. Along with the game winning assist. That is unbelievably impressive and exciting even moreso for the Rockets because what have we been looking for the last 2 or 3 years? An athletic wing that is a good/great shooter and can score in order to take some of the pressure off of Yao and McGrady. I see people trying to downplay it, but it is very impressive to me for his first game as a pro. I'm not comparing it to what McGrady and Kobe have done on the NBA level or anything, but impressive and great to see nonetheless.
So we're not going to see Dorsey at all during Summer Leagues...what a drag. Hopefully his contract gets worked out soon.
I thought Brooks looked bad. Too many clear across court passes, bad decisions, etc. He needs to use more change of pace, ala Steve Nash. No, I'm not saying he's close to Nash, I'm just saying if he didn't go full speed all the time he might be able to create more. He was also out matched on the defensive end by the Strawberry kid. Wasn't that impressed with Harris, his game doesn't flow, he's too mechanical. I did like his hustle on the glass though! Greene's shot sure looked good, although I'm with Dakota, he should have driven to the basket more. He's much quicker than I thought. Defensively he was bad, not much hustle. I was so bummed we didn't get to see Dorsey!
i think we may he was at the game last night probably just trying to get something worked out. Its weird since last year landry played without a contract and he was a second round pick too. I dont think he would even be at the games if he wasnt planning to play some time during the week or so. I think Morey is trying to get something done too since he wouldnt want to be in the same situation he is in now with landry next year with dorsey. hopefully Greene can have another strong showing on wednesday.
I wouldn't say he looked mechanical, more deliberate and controlled than last season's summer league. He had a couple of good offensive moves out of the high post passing position and defensively he was working hard in the second half. I didn't see the first half though.
I think of fundamental as a different thing than mechanical. Mechanical players to me look stiff when they do the things they are supposed to, whereas fundamental players do the same thing repeatedly in the correct way. Maybe I am misunderstanding the original posters intent?
Mechanical to me is the same as fundamental...... While they may not look fluid, all I really care about....is do they get the job done....does the player produce? I could care less if they look pretty doing it....Larry Bird had a sideways spin on his shot....so did Reggie Miller....who cares, it looked pretty in the end. DD
I know you and everyone else here is trying not to get too carried away with Greene's performance. But I have to agree with OldManRocks' observations throughout this thread. Every NBA scout bashed Greene's shot selection, so we can take this one game and wince (even if we hit them), or we can speculate that he was told to take those because we have an unusual need for someone to take them without hesitation when they're wide open. That's the reason both Greene fell to us and why we had targeted him. OMR's comments about his quick release (good hands too) are a better indicator of what he might be able to for us this year as opposed to all AB's "gimmee" layups last year. Let's just be giddy for a day. If not for us, for the kid because I know he put a smile on my face.
Yeah but when they shot the ball they didn't look at all uncomfortable shooting it the way they did. That is the difference imho. A mechanical player knows the form, but can't perfect it. A fundamental player has repeated the motion so many times correctly, that it's second nature.
Fair enough, and in all honesty I was blown away by his performance, you don't usually get someone that talented at 28 in the first round. Let's hope it is not a fluke. DD
Any one else excited to see Russell Robinson? If we can move Bjax and SF, I think he has potential to a good PG (defense, penetrate, quick). Wasn't he known for his defense at Kansas? He had a decent game last night: 2-4 FG 0-1 3PT 3-4 FT 7 points 5 Assists 1 T/O 2 Steals!
That's what I meant, more stiff than anything. Maybe it's just me, but he doesn't look as if he plays "relaxed" if that makes sense.
huh? Don't know what it means but they didn't have any sideways spin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahI7ohS5L-Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_nfsq4pTpI
When you shoot 50% from behind the arc, don't argue about Greene not taking it to the basket. Early in the game, Greene went by his defender for an easy dunk. IMO, this caused the defense to play off of him, thus giving him more open threes. Looking at his stats, he was 12-20 and 5-10 from 3 point range. Let's break this down: 5-10 (3 pointers) = 15 points 7-10 (2 pointers) = 14 points 11-12 (free throws)= 11 points Greene shot 50% from 3 pt range compared to 70% from inside the arc. He actually scored more points shooting 3's. If you watched Greene's game, his ability to go by a defender will open up the 3 and vice versa. He was also playing the wing, so I have no trouble with him shooting half his shots from the 3. Look at Battier's stats, he shoots more than 50% of his shots from beyond the arc. I don't hear people telling him to shoot less from outside.
