Just what I wanna see. Flashes of brilliance from JL3, Hayes and Novak. That kid's got a lightening quick release. I know we got Hayes and Novak locked in but like everyone else mentioned above: please give JL3 his much deserved contract. I really hope he signs back with us.

He's also got tremendous ball control and terrific change of direction moves. Just incredibly impressive. And with the no-handcheck rule in the league, there's no reason why he can't translate that to the NBA. I mean a few years ago, his size and weight would have been a big disadvantage on the perimeter where bigger, stronger PGs could slow him down immensely with a handcheck. But nowadays, a guy with that kind of handle, quickness with the ball, and side to side crossover moves is virtually unguardable.

I know that these are just highlights and don't even show JLIII on defense, but it's hard not to get your hopes up when he puts on a show like that. I repeat, "Don't f*** this up CD and Morey. Lock this kid up already."

If CD messes this one up, then I can officially call this offseason a disaster. The only bright spot is Snyder.

JL3 seems to have good court vision for hitting the open man once he draws attention. You combine that with his quickness & shooting = He needs to be a Rockets this season. Do all you can CD!

Was hoping there would be more of Novak, but the one shot they did show was very nice. Showed that he could get it up in a hurry without any hesitation or harm to his shot -- rare in man of his size.

JL3 looked amazing though. Incredibly smart and efficient passes, great stop and spin moves, very quick, and surprisingly tough for a man his size. The fade-away was working very well for him, definately a good tool to have at his height. Really hope we see him in a Rockets uniform next season...

I like the progress JL III is showing, however, we have to ask the question, can he handle a Devin Harris, Chris Paul, Mike James, Damon Stoudemire (we could've had him for next to nothing), Mike Bibby. JLIII defensive skills are very suspect and get's beat often. Lets remember you have to play D in the L

with all the talk of cd messing this up, i don't know if the ball is in his court anymore. if our contract offer is the same as the suns then there's nothing more he can do but hope lucas picks us.

Agreed. Defense will always be a problem for JL3 but we aren't asking him to be 30 mins/game starter. At best he would be a backup PG and possibly even 3rd string. All we need him to do is hit shots, distribute the ball and TRY on defense.

Can Rafer handle any of those guys? BTW, how could we possibly have gotten Stoudamire for next to nothing when he ended up signing a $17 million deal. We were outbid on that front, plain and simple.

I actually really like JL3. But you just sort pour a bit cold water here -- if Rafer is having trouble to guard these guys, then we definitelly will need to get someone who CAN as a backup

All I'm saying is that I don't know how much you can hold Lucas' defensive deficiencies against him, when our starting PG isn't exactly a defensive marvel either. And Lucas is far from the smallest and weakest defender to find a solid role in the NBA.

John Lucas III just made the Las Vegas All-Star Team, but Randy Foye got the MVP. Oh well............Also, he hasn't had a game under 20 points so far.

What really surprised me was that Ron Artest wasn't on the Las Vegas All-Star Team, I think those guys will have to be careful, Artest might come along to beat them up.

Can anybody really stop the speedier guards in this league, given the new rules? IMHO, the key to stopping perimeter players nowadays has to be playing great team D with help and rotation.
