What’s great is we are seeing normal basketball Not that crap D’Antoni put out that doesn’t work in the post season when the other teams slow tempo and take advantage of PJ Tucker as our center We are going to have a legit 4 and 5 and lots of length and athleticism for the 3 2 and 1
I know D-mo was not a statistic monster, but he certainly had a ton to do with the success that season. Granted, James Harden was the main reason, but D-mo did some good work within the team that made him an important member of that cast prior to going down with injury. I actually don't understand why @fchowd0311 is getting crap on this one. I don't think he said D-mo was going to be an all star, he just said D-mo was looking at a good lengthy career at being a role player. I would agree with that. Even the defense that D-mo played that year, he did pretty damn well. He was a good help defender that season. Yes, he wasn't locking anyone down, nor was he a stopper, but he wasn't a defensive sieve either. Did you guys not watch that season? I sure as hell did and I remember being bummed out about D-mo not playing in the playoffs along with Beverley. We were down two weapons that year. May he called someone stupid? Some times you all get way too passionate on here and start disrespecting each other for no damn reason lol. I was a D-mo fan, I guess I have to stand up for his short stint as a Rocket. Prior years, yeah, he was no good. Years after that, I guess he wasn't able to get back to the NBA. That one year though, he was pretty good. Once again, not filling up the stats sheets, but just doing team ****, which is a small reason why the team did so well with Dwight out while Tarik Black/Joey Dorsey manned the other big man spot (lol).
"Trajectory" is hypothetical nonsense though. You can't use what never happened to argue against what actually did. Who's stupid now?
I did watch that season, and like every other CF poster, I was a big DMo fan. He had a really good year and looked to be on his way to being an everyday starter, but it wasn't meant to be. You can blame injuries or a number of other factors, but the fact of the matter is that 12, 6 and 2 with competent defense was his peak. And if that was his best season, we can safely say he never reached the potential we all saw in him. If he had done that over 3-5 years, we could at least say he had a decent NBA career. I understand the love for DMo as I do all Rockets players, but at some point we sometimes let our vision for who we think a player could become cloud our judgment from who that player actually is. In DMo's case, it feels like that has carried over even after his NBA career ended. I just don't understand why some Clutchfans posters put him on a pedestal this long after his stint with the Rockets.
