I thought Payne would surprise people (in a positive way). Oh well. He has 3 more months to work on his game before the season starts.
He didn't look that bad, actually, just missed a bunch of jumpers that he's normally able to shoot a decent % on.
Rick Fox just said he is hearing rumors that the Rockets might still be swinging for the fences and pursuing Eric Bledsoe.

Well let's not talk about actual performance, let's talk about what is REALLY important. Have you determined if he's a "winner" or a "loser" yet?
I could see us paying max money for him - but we don't have the space and I don't know how we would create the space. I could even see us getting a package together, that the Suns would like, but really, how we are supposed to send out enough contracts? Max money would be like 15 million - that would mean we'd have to package 10 million. We can't combine the TE with another player, so that's out of the equation. We have 3 big contracts - Harden, Howard and Ariza. Ariza can't be traded yet as far as I know, the other two are pretty much untouchable. So are we supposed to package 8 players to just get the salaries to work? Would it be doable as a 3 team trade? I just don't see a possibility.
Well DMo was lighting them up early in the game, the Rockets moved away from him and are now trailing.
he gets too excited and makes stupid mistakes. The backwards pass that he tried to get cute with in the 2nd and rushing his hooks when he's off balance and clangs them against the back of the rim is somewhat aggravating to watch. He is a legitimate offensive threat when he settles down and just plays to his strengths, but when he rushes things he tends to get out of control easily.
That would mean we can offer him 8.3 million in salary - the 150% rule doesn't apply to TPE as far as I know. And even if it would our salary would still only be about the same as the contract he just turned down. Again, I just don't see a way for us to come up with 10 million in outgoing salary.
