Yeah, from the highlights I watched of him during the draft, his passing is what I noticed the most (along with the fact he seemed to be able to hit a jumper).

I see them complimenting each other skill wise. Von with his explosive finishing, and Budinger with his outside shooting.

It is nice,he might make the occasional dunk in the pros. I don't see him getting much of a chance against big, athletic defenders.

Did he get to show off much of his passing skills at Arizona?

He's not Von gone, at least not yet. He's not likely destined to be a Sun, either - Sasha and his 'creative' contract have to be dealt with for their last (13th) roster spot and they'll still be in LT zone.

Like I have said many times (the answer is yes), he primarily ran high screens with Jordan Hill and he (Hilll) had a lot of scoring opportunities at the basket because Chase could/can see over the defense at 6'7 and because of his sound passing fundamentals. And because of the lack of depth at point guard (ironic considering UofA is Point Guard U) , he was asked to sometimes act as the .....wait for it.......point-forward.

Sound like someone we have/(possibly) had here? ;)

Man, I know ya'll noticed it too, what was up with those announcers. They were more homers than Bullseye. No wonder they're summer league announcers, lame.

Anywho, Chase is great. This was the first time I actually got to take a good look at him and he was shooting lights out. He also was active on defense and made a steal while I was watching, I believe it was in the 2nd quarter. I think that was when he brought it down and he made a last second pass to White.

    I see why DD's on his N U T Z's now. he's good. :D

I remember quite well many posters on this board going gaga over Von's performances during the regular season, especially after Tmac when down.
It is rather dissapointing to know how short people's memories really are for the good stuff Von provided.

Wafer needs to ask for a meeting with RA and Morey (or vice versa) and clear up whatever problems they have had.

Give they guy another chance. We need his scoring.

Anyone else see White Flight finish that fast break with a swooping, Dr. J finger-roll? He looked like a scorer last night. Don't know why they keep running him at the point (4 TO in limited duty). Are they trying to demonstrate his utility, or give him rope to hang himself with?

I've watched all our SL play on this netbook. Bud (or try this for a nickname: Buffy) looks like a rotation player on our varsity; heck, if he plays consistently like this in real NBA action, he'll be rookie of the year. We can hope. I do remember JLIII & Green. Dorsey's much improved-- don't know if he'll make the squad; but all is not lost if he does so, and he might keep improving. Leunen looks like a smart, nice-shooting, PF. I wish he'd make the roster now instead of going overseas again. Conroy is a serviceable PG, if we need one. Not quite sold on JT, though he's had some hot flashes (nickname suggestion: Man-O-Pause).

All-in-all, Budinger's clearly done the most to promote himself in SL. Jury's still out on everyone else, and their fates hinge on DM's moves.

After watching that tape I'm now convinced that if Budinger had gone to Duke, he would have been a top 3 pick. If he had gone to another school without all the drama, he would have been a lottery pick.

Unfortunately he went to AZ and that team did not win much despite having him, Bayless, and Hill. It looks like he took the hit for that because the other 2 were lotto picks.

I think you should have said fortunately, because we wouldn't have him if he hadn't.

won't happen... they don't want him for other reasons... rumor has it he can't follow plays... so add that into the crap he pulled in playoffs... his failure in the playoffs... and his excessive demands... it's not worth the bother.

I've been telling people that for months now.If we are looking for that dude to come around to replace Wafer we will be a top 3 pick in the lotto next year.

What people like you and DD fail to see is White was playing almost completely within the confines of the offense. When is the last time you saw Wafer play within the confines of anything. he was a blackhole and either had no clue or nodesire how to create for others. If White wasn't open he would immediately pass and if he was open he would shoot.

Yeah he forced drives on several occasions but he also made smarter decisions on drives last night. Not to mention if you watched the games more closely you would see he shut down Curry in game one, shut down Lottery Pick Gerald Henderson in game 2, who was called a dud after that game and even was asked to guard Bayless when he was playing the point towards the end of the game.

White is a very solid defensive player who has a 3 point shot and an ability to run the break and slash to the basket when open. Yes it is true he cannot create like Wafer and he is somewhat a linear player as DD said but you have to ask yourself do we really want Wafer to be our goto guy. White fills a much needed role in being a very good defensive presence with a legit 3 pt shot. He is more athletic than Battier and much more well rounded than Wafer. Suffice it to say he has a skillset that is needed in the NBA

Von Wafer was NOT going to single handedly lead this team out of the lottery...but he might single handedly jack up 30 shots a game and put this team in the lottery...
