Watching Beaubois makes you forget the Rockets have Aaron Brooks. Did I get his name spelled right? Dallas sure looks like it has JJ Barea v2.

Is Chase Budinger Dirk Nowitzki v2?

Random thoughts on Rockets summer league game two.....

Yeah, I just found that myself. I'm not sure what I thought I heard when I saw it this first time, but I'm obviously incorrect. I'll leave my original post up so everyone can make fun of me

    Sorry about that...

Morey does it again. I had my doubts about Budinger but he looks good, better than Steve Novak and he's still in the league.

Beaubois looks like a totally different animal than Barea. Not sure how he'll look against NBA competition but he seems to have a much higher ceiling than Barea.

Dirk was a frickin' MVP and is a lot taller/longer. The only similarities I see are their shooting form and skin color. The fact that he shoots well isn't enough to make me think "the next Dirk." Budinger is a SF/SG, not even close to a PF. Dirk can even play the 5.

Budinger-very composed and aggressive yet unselfish at the same time. He only really looked for his own shot when there was adequate spacing for him or he was running off set screens. Made an impressive turnaround shot off a drive and1. 25 points on 9-10 shooting, 5-6 FT. Pretty impressive

Dorsey-beastly on the glass. Made a couple of ugle but effective hook shots.

Jermaine Taylor-didn't look very bothered by his recent hamstring injury. Shot looked quicker and more fluid than I thought.

Newley-didn't do a lot statistically but he appears quicker than I thought he would be. Very unselfish too.

Leunen- pretty solid. Made some shots. Also made a layup that otherwise would've been jammed down by Chase or JT though.

Budinger impressed with his shooting. Leeunen impressed with his efficiency and overall game. That's the best, and most, I've seen Dorsey play. Conroy had another solid performance at the point. Add J Taylor, and that's a decent second unit.

So, let's see, right now I have:

    AB/Kyle/Conroy
    Ariza/J Taylor/Barry
    Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Landry/Leeunen
    Chuck/Joey/Cook

Dorsey ft's looks mechanically smooth, doesn't look r****ded like chuck hayes. he missed a few but I think with repetition he could get better.

Budinger = Unconscious shooting, nearly perfect from the floor Did nothing else well but hey its SUMMER league!
Dorsey = Rebounding and blocking, playing with purpose doing what he's supposed to do.
Leunan = Another efficient floor game. I'd take him over Brian Cook right now if salary cap didnt matter
Taylor = Athletic volume shooter. Undecided if thats good or bad. Kinda a dime a dozen Dion Glover type to me
Newley = He's been through all these summer league teams and just keeps playing hard, rugged, shooting the 3 well, not trying to be the man though he could stand to be more selfish this time. He's the kinda guy if you're picking guys for a 5 on 5 game you'd pick him 3rd or 4th but hope no one else picks him up.

White = Looks the part, smooth with the ball in his hands but just isnt doing enough to impress
Conroy = Did a good job running the point but I wouldnt give him a place on team.

Rodrigue Beaubois (Dallas) = yeah its the Mavpricks but that kid's a stud.

Thx for the box score. I'm glad Chase is looking good in summer, I'd like to have him coming off of the bench for instant offense, a la Wafer. I'm not expecting much defense out of Bud, but the 2nd unit can always come in with some firepower to keep the other teams honest.

    go rockets!

Happy for him. He's on track for his goal during the SL. I hope he makes it; If he keeps it up maybe he can actually play at NBA level and help us out at C

I think Beaubois will be a Jason Terry type. I still wished the Rockets drafted his Cholet backcourt running mate Nando De Colo.
