Normally, If you want people to respond to you with respect, you use respectful languge.

And yes, Von is a role player, an NBA role player, none of the players today on the floor for the Rockets looked NEAR that level.

    Maybe by game 2.

Few and far between, the NBDL is littered with guys that can't score...or have no offense.

Very few make it in the league with that limited a skillset....Ben Wallace and Chuck Hayes are the exception, primarily because they play SMART basketball.

Joey Dorsey so far, has not done that.

I posted about it in the NBA dish, let's stick to the thread topic here.

This game did not do much to show any type of decent PG play on the Rockets....

    Those guys looked really bad...

Utah is not that crazy not to match even if they have to pay LT to keep him.

Yeah but I think we've been kind of spoiled the last few years with Summer League PG studs like Aaron Brooks and JL3.

Yeah, I saw nothing from the point guards at all. Not sure there was anyone that actually had a chance to make the squad

Some of yall need to refer to some game tape when Tmac and Ron were down midseason and watch von wafer. Then you might understand his value to this team.

He was valueable when the team wasn't trying to run through artest or mcgrady, and guess what, next season thats what the team is going to be doing (minus yao as well) which I think might elevate his game even more.

We could get this guy for a few years for a great price and he could turn into something good (maybe great). Sometimes you gotta find the superstars before they are superstars. Not everyone comes into the league like Lebron James did.

Von Wafer is a need, and yes I know we need a center, but just as bad we need a guy who can create scoring. Aaron Brooks is the only guy on our roster that can really do that right now.

What happened to that Prigioni(sp?) guy from last year, he really looked GREAT at the PG position.

    I can agree with that.

To be fair, lets give him a chance too. Chuck and Big Ben got to where they are because of hard work first and foremost, but someone had to take a gamble and give them a chance in NBA action. Ben was bounced all around the entire league before he found a niche. Joey will never look great in a SL game. Similar to Chuck, his limited set of skills will be much more valuable in a big-man driven NBA game (Compared to SL anyway).

Are you talking about Gustavo Barrera the 6'5 PG?

    Hey DD,

I didnt get to watch the game since Im at work. since you said leunen did well and looked NBA potential, do you see him making this team? I know its just the first game of SL but why not ask since we seemed jammed at the pf slot. But it would also be nice to have a big with range. I just assume youre more impressed with him today than you were with Dorsey though.

Every year the rookies come in and 50% of the guys here think they're going to light up the league. Budinger in particular is that underdog that everyone thinks is going to make it but he has an up hill battle to make it in the NBA. Morey is going to realize after the summer league that Von is the best player of the bunch and will sign him if nobody steals him from us first.

I can care less about people responding to me and respect, but it gets annoying when u mention Von Wafer's name over 998483483483 times like he's an all star type caliber player.

The difference is that to the trained eye, you can see where Chuck Hayes impacts the game outside of the score sheet.

He is always in the right spot, plays VERY smart ball......

Joey Dorsey looks like a man who has gotten by on his athleticism and brawn and is now facing guys as athletic who will not back down, and he is not smart enough ( or rather not bball IQ Smart enough) to figure out how to compete.

Look at the difference between how Maarty Luenan played and Dorsey, Luenan was in the right place at the right time, setting screens, passing the ball, rebounding, and hittting shots...

That is how you get noticed, showing that you can be a ROLE player and play a role.....

Dorsey has not even shown that yet......but it was only game 1...let's see how he does in the following games.

My guess is that unless he gets a LOT better the Rockets will cut him...
