Have you seen this? I'm sure it'll go over real well in Germany. In addition to the Dutch, here is also apparently an English version out there. [rquoter] Firms sells world cup nazi helmets A Dutch company is selling nazi helmets to Dutch football fans to wear during the World Cup Finals in Germany. Free Time Products, from Schijndel, has already sold 15,000 plastic orange helmets in just two weeks reports Het Laatste Nieuws. The plastic helmets are adorned with slogans such as "Attack", "There he goes" and "Go Holland go". Designer Weno Geerts said they were meant as a joke: "We just want to support our team and tease the Germans. Nothing else. That's why we called it 'Helmpje' (Small helmet)." Geerts said the company had received only a few complaints and expected to sell another 100,000 helmets before the finals this summer. "They are meant for the supporters who watch the game on the television, in the pub but also those who are travelling to Germany," he said. However, the Dutch Football Association KNVB said the helmets were in poor taste. And official supporters club chairman Lloyd Vandenberg said: "They go too far. It has nothing to do with football. We go for friendship and we don¹t want to refer to war times." [/rquoter]
A week in early July in Maine, mainly around Arcadia Nationa Park and Portland. Will be glad to meet any Clutch fans who happen to be there also.
What week in July wnes? We'll be around Moosehead lake from July 8th - 22. Portland is only about a hour's drive to Moosehead. We've rented a cabin on the lake.
I'll be done with finals this coming Monday here at UT. Going to go back to Houston for three weeks and then off to Chicago for the rest of the summer for an internship...
As you know I will be in Texas this summer. Leaving May 30th on a road trip. First stop is Yuma Az to chill with a friend who is stationed there. Then i'm going to be driving on until Midland Texas, where i will briefly stop and chill with emoreland. He will be the first clutchfan I will ever meet. Going then to McKinney to stay with my best friend for about a week. Then going on the 9th of june up to the OKC area to attend another friend's graduation from Army bootcamp. Then I'm going to Houston. I have no idea where i'm going to be staying, but I hope i won't be having to drop a lot of cash on hotels. Looking forward to meeting all you bastards in about a month from now.
I'll let you know after I meet you. You have no problem with drugs, guns, money laundering, and newleyweds and thin walls...er, nevermind. Good luck finding a place to stay!
The flight schedule is arriving at Portland on July 3rd (Monday) night and returning July 9th (Sunday) morning. Maybe it's possible to meet on July 8th? My wife will be travelling with me.
Going to Amsterdam? Cool! You'll love it. Here's a great place to go, and a good link for info: http://www.melkweg.nl/voorpagina.jsp You can buy pretty much anything you want there (of course, that's true of a lot of places in A'dam!). It's huge! Another, more traditional link: http://www.hotels-in-amsterdam.biz/ A nice hotel with a great location, but might be expensive: http://www.hotelpiethein.nl/ Nice article on A'dam on a budget, from the NY Times. http://travel2.nytimes.com/2006/04/23/travel/23affordable-amsterdam.html (I can cut and paste it here, it's short. Let me know.) A link to Let's Go. Budget travel guides and info: http://www.letsgo.com/ A thread where there was a little discussion of this: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=100415 Remember, Google's your friend, lol! I'm envious... can't go this summer.
This summer? Good question. My academic job ended two days ago. I still get paid but I have nothing to do. I'm actually looking for a summer job or something, because it's driving me nuts right now. Not to mention that I don't know where I'm going this fall. I wanted to go back to school for music, but seems like I can't manage to get anything to happen right now. So, right now, I sit here watching everything fall apart at once and trying to pull some future together out of this. (not to be a downer or anything - maybe when this gets settled I can make some better summer plans)
Might be hard. We get into Moosehead on Saturday the 8th in the early evening (it's a 10 hour drive from NYC). Let's play it by ear and see how it goes. Would love to meet up and have a beer!
In a couple weeks, I think I'm going to float the Guadalupe. In June, I'm taking a long driving trip through Colorado and Utah to visit friends in California. I'll be gone 2 weeks. Woot. In either late August or early September, my band will be on the road for a few weeks mainly up the east coast and into some of the midwest. In between, I'll be working as usual and getting away as often as possible.
If Moosehead is a nice attraction in itself, we wouldn't mind going there anyway. I don't think we have any specific planning set on the 8th. Let's see how the trip plays out.
Moosehead is the largest lake east of the Miss. river. It's beautiful! Any dates set for your tour jeff?
I'll probably be spending a lot of time around Rocky Mountain National Park, Rockport, I think a driving trip to Glacier National Park (before the final 26 or so galciers dissapear)...oh in mid June I'm headed to West Virginia with some college friends to do a rock climbing, white water rafting weekend. Then Houston and work. My big thing is I've got to get prepared for the CFA Level 2 exam coming up in a few weeks here, after that my mind will be so much more at ease.
I don't know! probably! LOL!!! But that's what it says on the sign welcoming people to Moosehead! From Wikipedia Moosehead Lake is the largest lake in Maine, and second largest east of the Mississippi River after Florida's Lake Okeechobee. Situated in the Longfellow Mountains, it is the source of the Kennebec River.
