Or you could go one better. I just bought a Zegna from Nordstroms, had it tailored there and the fit is fantastic after alterations. Also agree about the slim part. These suits are not made for heavyset dudes.
I just checked the nearest Burlington and got overwhelmed with the no service and populated disoriented suits. Will try nordstron, sums and Macy's sometime this week.
Nordtroms is pretty expensive. If I were you with your budget right now, hit up Macy's. They do have some nice, off the rack suits.
Nordstrom will be at least $400 total, when you include alterations and taxes. It's a great place, if it fits your price range. Since you were looking at a $200 outfit, it might be out of your price range. Their customer service is much better than other stores. Don't forget the dress shoes, belt, and tie. I am not sure about Macy's service. I would assume a higher level of service than Burlington Coat Factory, though. If you go to Macy's and do not have a Macy's card, you can apply at the cash register. They will instantly give you 10% off your purchase. You also want to check the in-store flyer. There is usually a coupon for Macy's card holders that may be applied to your suit. The salesman should be able to help you with discounts.
Can anyone recommend an affordable place (inside the loop) I could a suit taylored at. Just bought a new suit myself..
Trolling like no other <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vWe2ypTjxk8?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vWe2ypTjxk8?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Go to Nordstrom. They will take care of you. If you are looking for a suit for multiple occasions then go for a charcoal suit. Try on the different fits. A suit is a great purchase and is worth the money. You can use the suit jacket and pair it up with some jeans or you can wear the suit pants with just a nice dress shirt without the jacket if it isn't too formal. A suit that requires too many alterations is not the right suit. The basic alterations are complimentary. They include hemming the pant legs and taking in/out the waist or seat as well as shortening the sleeves. The going rate on a decent suit at Nordstrom is 695 to 795. THe brands included in that range are John Varvatos, Hugo Boss, and Joseph Abboud. If this is your budget go to Nordstrom and ask for Darrel in the clothing department. He is a good and honest guy.
I wouldnt go to nordstrom if thats your price range...i would just skip it completely. You may want to try JC penney...i remember buying a tie there last year and noticed they had some nice modern fit suits at a good price. Should be decent quality for the cost and i believe they always have salesguys in that area to help you out.
This might sound corny, but it helps a lot! Check it this link to Macy's. http://www1.macys.com/campaign/social?campaign_id=159&channel_id=1 It's like a style guide. Take the suit quiz to determine what fits you.
Went to Marshalls last week and got a nice Calvin Klein slim-cut suit for $160. Got sized at Mens Warehouse, so I knew what to look for. Fits perfectly!
