Yeah, I saw it yesterday. My bus usually turns left from Dallas onto Brazos heading towards the library. That's where it happened, so they made us go to Louisianna instead. I saw the cops, the yellow tape, and the sheet over the body.
I've never seen a body come apart during a suicide jump. Seriously? You don't know? Because you can't die of "cowardice" or "stupidity", so the fall makes up for it.
A parking garage that is 100+ feet taller than the Transco Tower would be a hell of a parking garage.
EDIT: I'm removing the obvious Simpsons reference that this thread reminds me of. I'm fairly sure somebody will take offense.
Shula's is in the main floor lobby facing Louisiana St. If you were to enter the Hyatt via its main entrance on Louisiana St, Shula's would be on your left as you enter. Above Shula's is hall that leads to a series of 2 skybridge's that connect CNP Tower to the Hyatt and its garage. This hall above Shula's is where his body first hit, severing off his leg, which landed in this hall. The rest of the body crashed into left corner of Shula's below.
To clarify.....that hall is more like a bridge above Shula's. The body hit the railing, causing the leg to be seperated from the rest of the body.

God damn you can be so freaking annoying sometimes... In the post right above mine, tigereye told us exactly what happened during that suicide jump. The guy's leg hit a rail on the way down severing it from his body, that's why I said "the majority of it" when talking about the rest of him falling into Shula's. I'm not even sure this was meant for me. This like has nothing to do with my question about whether or not Shula's has a ceiling or not in its spot in the hotel. I'm going to assume this response was meant for RocketsMac who asked what the technical cause of death is during a fall from such a high place.
Ha.So... I'm annoying 'cuz I have NEVER seen that happen? Wow. Don't have a cow, man. Your ASSumption was correct.
You all argueing about jumping feet first or head first and diving or jumping reminded me of this: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qNuFl-Uu1go&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qNuFl-Uu1go&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
My wife works with a guy that personally knows this guy, so much so, they were in each others' weddings apparently. As per my wife's email: The guy who jumped off the parking garage in downtown yesterday was one of *****’s best friends; they were Kappa Alpha’s at SWT together and were both in each other’s weddings…perhaps as best man. He was 42, married with 3 kids (4, 7, 11) and a financial guy with UBS Financial. ****** said he talked to him at the end of December and that he had said everything was fine, but the guy’s wife said that he had been super-depressed for the past 3 days and staying at his parents’ house. Yesterday afternoon he sent a text to his wife saying he was sorry and that he loved her and the kids, and then jumped. She called 911, but it was too late. ***** said he was a really sweet guy and that his clients (mainly doctors) had been riding him hard about the economy; he internalized it all and felt guilty and just couldn’t take it.
Following up with my wife, it may have been Smith Barney he worked for, not UBS....not that it matters.
