I agree Boki is only an average 3pts shooter, his 47% this season is a bit of misleading. One thing i do like about is his hustles. Yes, he might foul alot but at least he tries hard and he CARES. JJ on another is getting older and fatigue started to have him due to the heavy minutes he played. To start boki, at least is to prepare for our future, we cant rely on an old JJ to be the part of the team for next five years and we dont have much cap room for a quality SF, our main concerns is our PFs and PGs. so, boki is the best choice we have and we have to develop him NOW!!!! I dont think the plus and minus with boki on the floor is that much significant plus i think the idea of JJ coming off bench to play 25-30minutes to spark some fire is what we desperately need now for our weak bench!!!! Cheers!!!
Gaines showed life in the garbage time. Made 3 straight shots and showed confidence. So it's apparent that shooting well like Boki and Gaines buys tickets to the doghouse and no shooting whatsoever like Ryan Bowen gets one starting at sf. Meanwhile the great hustler Bowen shoots at 25 % from beyond the arc, gets one rebound in 10 minutes and 0.1 block a game. At least Nachbar has better upside, he never get to showcase his slashing skills in the grind it out offense. Minutes wise Gaines and Nachbar are in their second year. Both needs confidence to get going. Both gets none from JVG.
I am sick of JVG's butt love with old veterans. This guy never trusts and develops young players. He puts them in doghouse and plays old fart like JJ for 40+ minutes. How can we get an energetic line-up and efficient production?
WOW now that is a great Post! Not only does it makes sense, its logical, well thought out and clear, you sir NIKEstrad, are in the wrong forum!
Boki is a scrub. He might have the occasional good game throughout his career, but he'll never be a starter.
Ok, great. Hope that works out well for you. Boki is about to get his FIRST real chance to shine, so we will see whether or not he will be a starter for years to come, or whatever the heck the future has in store for one Mr. Bostjan Nachbar. Happy Holidays to you all!
How about this scenario? Boki goes to Phoenix and becomes The Matrix Part II. Phoenix trades the original Matrix to Chicago for Curry, Chandler, and a #1. Curry blossoms into a top 3 NBA center and Boki gets to run the floor with Nash and Company and wins the next 4 championships, while the Rockets grind away and become the 2000s version of the 1990s Knicks and Heat. NIGHTMARE!
Don't know about out of the league, but he won't be a Rocket. Team doesn't pick up your option and puts you on the "phantom" IL, its not exactly a welcome mat. As far as him starting over JJ, I don't think he is talented enough. I mean with all the troubles this team has, if Boki had shown potential in practice or the past 3 years, he would be playing. I would rather swing T-Mac over to SF to spell JJ and Bobby Sura over to SG to get both of these guys 40 minutes a game and cut JJ back to no more than 30 minutes a game.
Nike: As far as Boki versus Langhi, I hardly think there is a comparison. I was a staunch supporter of Langhi but I truly think Nachbar is leagues ahead of him. Langhi was never able to get to the hole like Boki could. I'm not saying Boki is some kind of fantastic slasher, but I have seen him make some pretty nice moves to the bucket (although he may not have finished the layup). Langhi went through a period where he airballed nearly everything he through up as well. Nachbar never did. And finally, Langhi was a 2nd round pick, whereas Nachbar was a mid first round pick. I don't paint Nachbar as the Rockets' savior. I just rather have him play than Bowen simply b/c he can do more and has the potential to develop into a very nice player.
Boki would help us with our "new" uptempo style, I'm scared JJ might get hung on a dunk attempt or something.
Where were you guys when Boki was languishing in the grade A dog house in his rookie season? Our 1st round pick only managed a grand total of 77 minutes (or thereabout) in his rookie season when his services could have been utilized. Nobody complained then save for a few around here including myself - but now you guys are just grasping for straws looking for whatever to complain about. I do not have a problem with criticisms and complaints - just make them rational and not prejudice driven.
Boki would be an upgrade and would help the team in several ways. Positive- - Can finish on the break - Good handle - Decent shooter once he hits a couple - Slasher who can take it to the hoop - hard worker on defense (pesky) - long (6'-9" legit) - can rebound - makes a good entry pass to the post Negative- - needs minutes and confidence - foul prone - not real strong (but does play tough)
Actually the truth of the matter is anyone can see that Boki has talent and should be getting minutes. there is something wrong that I don't know about because it is obviouse Boki is being frozen out. I have no idea why he is in the dog house. JVG has me totally baffled on Boki.
He needs to gain confidence. He needs to play to gain confidence. JVG sucks at people skills. How many minutes has andre barrett played after lue came back? I wonder how many he will be playing when ward comes back. If you don't start him, at least put him ahead of bowen. They could at the very least split the minutes
Sigh. Ryan Bowen: 203 minutes Bostjan Nachbar: 201 minutes rhester: Take out the 6-9, and the not real strong, and foul prone, and you've got Reece Gaines' scouting report, too.
