If you're still looking at homes, I'd recommend browsing through www.har.com
It shows you all the homes that are on sale in Houston with pictures available.

Yeah and if you do want to move and are looking at homes, email me if you have questions about a neighborhood.

I tell you what is going to suck for those of us living in Sugar Land: When they open the new monster subdivision at Hwy 6 and 90. They've already begun clearing the land there. The traffic on hwy 6 getting to 59 will blow.

Yeah, I drove through that all summer into New Territory.

It will suck, but hopefully the 59 widening will be done by then.

Sugarland keeps electing Tom Delay to Congress. Do you really want to live with the people responsible for Tom Delay?

There is another potential pitfall about moving to an area that is rapidly expanding...protecting your investment. If you decide to sell your house before they stop building new houses, you'll have a hard time selling. Nobody wants to buy used houses when new houses are being built around the corner. I had a friend that bought new and 3 years later moved to Chicago, after 2 years on the makret, they sold the place at an extremely reduced price.

Thanks Man, I will PM you if I decide to stop by and check out the real estate market. FranchiseBoi86, that's a good link, those pictures are tempting...

It sounds like there is NOTHING to dislike about this place, with the exception of maybe some traffic concerns. But as someone has pointed out, I live in SoCal, so I'm used to long commutes. ;)

not true...coming in to Houston from the east side is much more painless than any other...I can get to Downtown from Baytown in less than 30 minutes at the peak of rush hour.
I-10 on the West side is horrible...but the East side is just fine when we dont have tons of LA refugees cloggin up the fast lanes.

Dude I think this is one case where we can cut them some slack. That's pretty selfish of you to b!tch about them on the road when they're about to lose quite a bit at home.

the Pearland area is the next Sugarland. I grew up in Pasadena and Clear Lake and now live in Pearland. It's the fastest growing community in Houston. My drive from garage to garage (I work downtown) is 14 miles. Can't beat that! Traffic has definitely gotten worse in the last 2 years with all the people moving there, but it's still nothing compared to 59 and 10 with the construction/traffic. There is no mall there but everything from the Galleria (huge shopping complex), medical center (Reliant Stadium, hospitals), Rice (the university, shopping and pubs) and downtown (Toyota Center, work for me, bars/clubs) are all within 20 minutes away.

The location is unbeatable and there is a Circuit City, Best Buy, BBB, Linens N Things, BW3, Target, Randalls, Kohl's, Ross, Pier 1, etc all there.

Check out http://shadowcreekranch.net/ for more info.

That's a difference in opinion. Sugarland sounds really nice but I wouldn't chose to live there. It is too sterile and far away for my personal preferences.

Personally, I enjoy being 10 minutes away from: Rockets, decent night life, theater district, mueseums, endless independant restaurants, etc etc etc. I'm within walking distance of Rice Villiage shopping and pubs or great mueseums. I work downtown and take light-rail so I save on gas/car upkeep. But that's a personal choice my wife and I made and spent extra on the house (however the resale value of these homes are higher too). So to each his own.

Wow, 20 minutes from the Toyota Center and a large university. That does sound very tempting. :)

Does Houston have a pretty good rail system? In Los Angeles, our rail system is a joke.

No it's a joke here too. The only difference is the one here is dangerous to drivers. Over 100 rail/vehicle accidents since they built it in 2004. Record-setting.

Let's hold down the Pearland talk, it is building up too fast and 288 S is my commute. It is the best way into downtown.

Its only dangerous to redneck drivers who run red lights.

However that area tends to drive women crazy and they end up running over their men or drowning their kids in the bathtub, so you may want to stay away if you plan on dating or marrying.
