Seriously. The only thing cops around here do is hide and bust people for "rolling stops" and minor traffic violations. One time I got pulled over for slowing down as a cop drove by. Sure enough he couldn't ticket me for anything. Whataburger around here seems pretty safe at night--I always see three to four cop vehicles there EVERYNIGHT! They need to start monitoring the neighborhoods a lot more to help prevent things like this. These type things are happening far too frequently lately.
I used to live in Sugar Land, before 1999, it was a nice upscale suburb... went back last year, saw some dude aat a gas station with a handgun sticking out of his pink t-shirt. Things Change.
Sugar Land is the safest suburb in Texas. Was like 5th safest city in the U.S. about 3 years ago... still is pretty safe to me... Lived there my entire life... best suburb of Houston bar none.
Maybe because Sugarland is a city and not a suburb. If it wasn't a city, Houston would have annexed it by now(i.e. Kingwood & other suburbs). I think Sugarland has been an incorporated city for 50 years or more.
It may be the best and safest suburb in Houston but its not the best/safest area in Houston. By area I mean West U, Memorial, etc, which are not suburbs.
Looks like it might not be the safest RIGHT now, be careful to those who live out there. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6730430.html Sugar Land man, daughter robbed in driveway Police looking for culprit By MIKE GLENN HOUSTON CHRONICLE A Fort Bend County man and his daughter were robbed at gunpoint in the driveway of their Sugar Land home, officials said. An armed robber rushed up to the man, 53, and his daughter, 12, about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday as they returned to their home in the 1100 block of Oak Glen Lane, Fort Bend County sheriff's officials said. The robber told them to “shut up” then demanded to know what they had in the grocery bags they were carrying. The homeowner threw the bag and his wallet onto the driveway, hoping the robber would leave them alone, deputies said. However, the robber took the man's house and car keys before striking him in the head with his pistol. He also threatened to shoot the man's daughter if she made a sound, deputies said. The robber tried to get into the man's home but changed his mind after hearing a barking dog inside. He then fled on foot and remains at large, deputies said. The holdup happened the day after Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson was robbed at gunpoint in the driveway of his home. Sheriff's deputies described Wednesday's robber as a 16- to 25-year-old black man with an athletic build. He is about 6 feet 2 inches tall or slightly taller and weighs 185 to 200 pounds. He was wearing dark-colored clothes with a single stripe running down the legs of his pants. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS. mike.glenn@chron.com
B/c Sugar Land is a badass city... worthy of its own mayor.. just go visit it and live there for a couple of years.
Go look up the good news... stuff like this never happens in Sugar Land... I mean theres bound to be at least some bad stuff... Houston ain't exactly a great city criminal-wise... but overall... it doesn't get an safer in Houston than in Sugar Land.
