Lot of talk about brady anderson out here. Don't know of anything myself, but whatever, you know somebody has to be gay if 10-20 % of the population is gay.
who is Brady Anderson don't EVER trust statistics. . . remember. . . There are lies. .. There are DAMN LIES and then there are statistics... Rocket River
I have a problem with that article. Particularly this section: Jubi Headley, director of communications for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, said the varying responses to the two athletes' remarks is a reflection of the greater value placed on men's sports in American society. "We don't lionize and evaluate the hero status of female athletes," Headley said. Well if Mike Piazza is not gay than he's not gay. Why be nice about the issue if it's 100% un true, in Piazza's defense. If someone falsely accused me of being "gay" in my school's newspaper i sure as Hell won't rest peacefully until people know it's just a god damn rumor, as was Mike Piazza's story. It seems to me she is just trying to stick up for all the lesbians in the WNBA who conceal their identities by saying women athletes aren't heros.
So . . . is this article about the fact that she did not get ENOUGH pub about COMING OUT? on the one hand. . . it's not suppose to matter on the other. . . . . . it should be considere BIG news Rocket River
So someone accuses you of being gay? Big deal! As long as you know the truth what does it matter? Besides, the more you deny it the more suspicious you look. It's sad that it is more acceptable for an athlete to be a wife-beater, drug addict or drunk driver than a homosexual.
Welcome to America Interesting is that homosexuality is the ONE privilege that is denied these guys. They can f*ck up time and agian and come back . .. . but get caught with George Micheal in the bathroom and your career will start a slow winding death Rocket River
Interestingly enough, Sue Wicks was, and still is, my favorite player in the WNBA. She is so popular around the league, in fact, that she was voted to start in an all-star game, though completely undeserving in terms of skill. In that year's all-star game, she was the only player who got less than 10 minutes, despite being a starter. That tells you something about her effort, determination, and guts on the court. Personally, I'm glad she's a lesbian. This way, she won't get pregnant, and she won't miss any seasons . I'm a New York Liberty fan for this season, since my hometown Monarchs are now 2-13, after being 2nd in the league a year ago. Go Liberty!!!
Not saying anything bad about women athletes, but like most things things are stereotyped by a few things. Most people including myself think there are more gay women than straight women in the league because of the stories we are told. Liebermann and now Wicks only makes this opinion stronger. Did y'all know that Swoopes went to UT for some time until a hazing on her and her basketball class? The school let her leave before she or anyone else made it public. Honest to God, my bestfriend's dad is a UT alum in the know and he told me this.
Yo has not played this season due to disk problems. Ticha has also missed many games due to injury. According to Swoopes, she left because she was homesick. Same reason she didn't stay in Italy.
I read a rumor that said Sheryl's mom made her pull out of UT because she heard the basketball team was full of lesbians. Also, Chamique Holdsclaw publicly said that she chose Tennessee because she wanted to go to a straight team.
I got no inside info, nobody passes along any juicy rumors to me , and I have no doubt outlaw is more in tune with goings on in the gay community, but for what it is worth the story has been widely reported. One of many examples I could cite is from CNNSI (Louise is the evil Mom ): As a senior Swoopes was named female high school player of th year in Texas. Soon after graduating she began dating Eric Jackson, whom she married last June. Given her pick of colleges—most recruiters felt she could turn any Division I school into a national title contender—Swoopes chose to go to the University of Texas. It was about 400 miles from Brownfield, but she figured it had a big-time program and at least was in her home state. She lasted four days. "I knew she didn't like her decision even before she left," says Louise. "I think she started on a Monday, and every day she called and said, 'Mom, I want to come home.' I just said, 'You know the door's always open.' On Friday she was home." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/events/1996/olympics/daily/july19/swoop.html While the lesbian angle is certainly possible, it seems as though Sheryl would have figured that out before going to school for a week. Also, the homesick angle is consistent with her leaving Italy. In any event, I guess Sheryl has learned how to deal with lesbians now. Back on topic, Sue Wicks has always been one of my favorite non-Comets, regardless of her sexual orientation.
in any case, Sheryl leaving UT hurt the program considering they won the national championship only 3 years prior. they could have used that scholarship slot for another player. then again Sheryl might not be the player she is today if she hadn't taken the path that she did.
