According to Men in Black the tabloids are the only news media really telling us the truth.

Media retracting published stories and issuing apologies? Well, if you believe that they were not coerced by the government, or were only reacting to vicious political oppositions, you've gotta be kidding yourself.

Given Bush's checkered past with alcohol and the graveness of recent events, I am not so ready to reject the overall authenticity of this story, despite fact that it is published by a tabloid magazine. That MSM have not picked up on it could be of several reasons: the back-to-back hurricanes hitting the Gulf region, John Roberts senate hearing, the ongoing war, Iran, North Korea nuclear standoff - all are major national/international news that require immense coverages. Also, the resources of MSM are not unlimited.

I personally don't think it unusual for Laura to say "It's Jim Beam or me". It's quite Texan folklore-ish, isn't? Can we all count on family friends being 100% loyal to us? I doubt many can guarantee that.

It's not that you are not a fan of W, it's you are not a fan of "tabloid" news. Tabloids are not political. IMO, the main reason they are looked down upon is because the nature of the stories they published, not really because of the authenticity per se.

Hayes, if it were not for the limit on the number of characters in one's sig, I bet you would add 10 more deckards there. :p

You are right, if the President is a capable fellow, he can be as drunken as he likes to be and I (we) could care less. But with Bush, that's another story. If he didn't declared publicly that he quitted drinking for good at the age 40 with the help of Jesus, I could also care less if he drinks now and then.

I don't need a course in logic. I wasn't trying to prove that what you said is false. I'm trying to prove that because something may have happened in the past does not mean it WILL happen in the future and doesn't mean it's always a correct indicator.

Why aren't all presidents chain smokers? I mean they can look a lot cooler with a Cuban. Of course, we would have to legalize Cubans first.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is maybe some truth, perhaps a niblet, to this story. Also wouldn't be surprised if the Enquirer sensationalized and grossly exaggerated the issue. Even if Dubya's having occasional relapses and taking a drink from time to time, I don't doubt that his handlers and puppeteers still everything under control behind the scenes. Cheney is surely still scheming and rolling his knuckles like clockwork in the back office.

How and where did they get their <b>"Stop George!"</b> and <B>It's me or Jim Beam..."</b> quotes?

Also, we know he doesn't care a whit about the dead US soldiers...

I am, I was making the reservations for my brother and his family who were in San Marcos at a hotel without any access to the internet to make reservations for the next few nights. So I searched forever and found two places that had rooms. One was in Terlingua and the other was in NM. They chose NM.

I did visit TX. just last week, but I still live in LA.

I think one things that both republicans and democrats can agree with is that the National Equirer has ZERO credibility on anything they report.

    Can I get an amen?
