forreal I'm thinking . . success out of my reach I was getting concerned. . then I said. . well maybe he feels the Chinese team cannot get the gold medal then after reading a while. . I was just confused Rocket River
Team Yao . . or Yao's posse' is doing a great job However . . from wha I have read Money has *never* been a problem for Yao he has always been relatively well off. so he has no rush for a cash grab Whereas . . . the players from poorer environs tend to just do a Cash grab . . not saying it right. . but just a explaination Rocket River
Well, I guess even the first pay cheque for a late 2nd rounder should be more than able to cover most 'needs'.
The 1st peice of meat to a starving person would stave off the hunger pangs doesn't mean they going to stop eating or even try to hoard some for the next time Rocket River BTW . .they are A BUNCH of VERY intelligence players in the NBA I love Yao . . but I would not go out and say any of them are the MOST INTELLIGENT
I remember reading in SI that his parents weren't well off and his mother was basically getting punished by some higher up because of something she did during the Cultural Revolution. They also lived in a fairly small place. Anyway, I don't see how he's the smartest player because he lets other people run his life. It sounds like all he does is focus on basketball and show up at whatever endorsement activity he's involved in. He doesn't even keep his own money for crying out loud. It's like he lives in a bubble.
You'd be surprised at how much other baskeball players defer to agents, family, and friends. There's so much crap that goes on in terms of endorsements, money, advertising, paid appearances, etc.. that you can't help but defer to others in terms of managing one's situation. Now, Yao has deferred almost all responsibilities to others, but that's just the way his culture works. My family is from india and it's very similar there as well. People there tend to trust family with a lot more responsibilities of this sort and the family unit tends to be much more close than in America. What you consider "living in a bubble" is the norm for many traditional families in Asia. And while you and even I would not like to live in that type of environment, for many it is the system they are most comfortable with and there's nothing wrong with that.
You guys are overreacting to this "parents take all his money" issue. I mean, yeah, he lets his parents take care of his money. But it's still HIS money. It's not like his mom and dad will spend a good portion of it behind his back.
that title scared me for a moment. my first thought was that he was going to say he cant win the the rockets.
That's all well and good. If it works for him great, but it still doesn't make him the most intelligent player because he does those things. I doubt he's more intelligent than Deke, now that's a brilliant guy.
it just goes to show you how truly humble and modest this man is. to allow your parents to manage your money speaks volumes of how much you trust them. wish all the nba stars were like that. most of them show that they want to give back to the community but others will always put themselves in front of others.
I love Shanghai, but there are just so many small things that would have to change before I consider living there long term. For example, there's no garbage disposable in any homes I've seen in Shanghai, small things like that which people in the U.S. just expect aren't there and the little nuiances bothers you. Even living there aint that cheap anymore. If you want to have the same lifestyle you have in the U.S., it will cost you the same as it cost in the U.S. Good clothe, booze, and other stuff aint cheap and are mostly imported.
