It should be really an easy computation. I shouldn't have to spell it out. Ask yourself, "Is what I'm wearing overly trendy or stupid looking?" and then, "Does what I'm wearing make me look like a hobo?"
You don't have to go to either extreme. Carlton wore very pastel clothes with sweaters tied around his neck. This is not what I'm going for. I'm going for classic, nice dress. It's not hard.
classic, nice dress is not hard. just be wary of looking like you are the chaptermaster of the local young republican yacht club. i like to mix up some edge. i have some differences with mlwoo, that's for sure, but i can't say who's right and wrong. it's personal taste. i refuse to be the clean-cut magazine poster. typically, i have: jeans, dress shirts and graphic tees - express polos - polo, lacoste, old navy everyday shirts - college, threadless.com, kohl's/marshall's sportswear - kohl's, target, academy dress pants - banana republic, macy's plain t-shirts - craft stores, sam's club, gap shorts - hurley or o'neill whatever it is, i try to avoid the logos as much as possible. just 2c - don't look to what you SHOULD be wearing, but look to what you SHOULDN'T wear- 1) sports jerseys, unless you're at a game 2) clothes too big or too small 3) all white, all black, all pastel, or all khaki 4) denim shirts/jackets/vests 5) wrong shapes: like horizontal stripes on wide bodies, or vertical stripes on long bodies, or short-sleeve button-down graphic shirts (unless you're a lounge singer or bowler), extremely pleated and cuffed slacks... 6) things outside your age range. look at the advertisements for a hint at the maker's intent
I was goin to guess frat boy after he made the comment about not wearing shorts below your knees and leather flip flops
I'm a business professional, but I dress like a Euro hipster *** when not in the office. Skinny leg jeans, vintage t-shirts, Puma's and half beard. I like old school sport coats as well, but they have to be short. I'm fitted for a size 40R sports coat, but I only buy the 38S size though.
I've got the same issues, but I'm the opposite extreme. I have a long torso and pretty narrow shoulders. I've thought about going to a tailor as well. Do people do that for casual clothes?
