The more I think about this, the more it doesn't sit well. What kind of an example is this for kids? What the hell, man. This is not right.

I think all it says is that when he was a kid, he stole some stuff. Maybe he should be more remorseful about it, but I don't see that big a problem.

Of course, it would've been better had he never stolen...

Does this thread have anything to do with 2003: Rockets Game, Action & Roster Moves? Nevermind, don't answer that:eek:

Seriously, I can't wait until Francis matures a little bit and becomes a leader. That will be a great time for Rocket fans or whomever team Francis happens to be on at that particular time.

One, kids should not be reading Stuff magazine. Two, it is a printed interview and therefore we will never know the full context.

That's pretty pathetic Steve...I mean, c'mon, stealing stuff from convenience stores? You call that a crime? What this team needs is a good wife beater...anybody know one??

Well, it might be the only way he will get into the playoffs since the Blazers do MAKE it every year UNLESS he gets some goddang maturity since he is supposed to be our "leader", lol.

Oh happy day! I agree with RM95 on something. I used to steal all kinds of sh*t. You don't get sent off the military school for being a good kid. What matters is how you conduct yourself when you're not an idiot kid.

Some of you could stand to lighten up a bit.

Top Phrase Yao Ming has pronounced this season:

    "I'm open, Stevie! Darn... "

I agree with the first part, disagree with the last part.:p

I should clarify that what Francis did as a kid should not have any bearing on what he is now. However, I have this feeling that he is the type that it takes a long time to break bad habits or see the "light". Is he stealing stuff now?? Probably not, but I am not convinced that his judgment on things has gotten any better.

I know the dude is making strides to be more of a leader, but I'll read stuff that makes me think otherwise.

Oh and Lynus, it is fun to NOT lighten up because then you can have arguments.:D

Are you guys serious? This is the NBA, not the Boy Scouts. There are guys playing here who have scars from bullet wounds they got as kids. Some of these guys GREW UP in neighborhoods most of us wouldn't set foot in if you paid us. Some had no parents - Steve was raised by his grandmother.

Should it be a shock to anyone that Steve stole candy? Hell, he could have shot someone or jacked somebody's BMW. He could have just as easily wound up in a gang as on a basketball court. It certainly doesn't make what he did ok, but it also shouldn't be surprising given his environment.

And, of course, everyone skips the part where he says he doesn't smoke pot and that most guys in the league don't either. The fact that he said that says more about him than the indescretions of his youth.

These are young, rich, famous athletes. In many ways, they have more in common with rock stars than they do with normal everyday people. There's a reason the phrase "sex, drugs and rock and roll" exists, ya' know? I'm surprised that any of you find this schocking.

Or they could give the Hornets back to Charlotte when their new team starts up.
