http://www.cba.uh.edu/~cossick/ The class isn't that hard though, it's a basic comp class that any geek that posts on a bbs should be able to handle... ------------------ Saturday, Donny, is shabbas, the Jewish day of rest. That means I don't work, I don't drive a car, I don't f***** ride in a car, I don't handle money, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as s*** don't f****** roll! I just finished finals last week, and here are my hints: - DON'T GO TO SLEEP THINKING YOU'LL STUDY WHEN YOU GET UP -- YOU WON'T GET UP. Never say "I'll sleep now, and wake up and study" . . . it never happens . . . study before you goto sleep, because when that alarm starts beeping, you'll look at it and go "I didn't need to study for as long as I'd scheduled . . . we can sleep another 30 mins" and before you know it, there is no time for you to study and you fail your final. Take it from someone who knows - ORGANIZE -- organize everything before you start -- it gives you a good opportunity to not only look though things, but it makes studying so much easier when you've got all your notes, papers, etc. organized, and chronological - MUSIC IS A NO -- this depends for different people, but what I've found (almost unilaterally) is that music becomes a distraction, and it reduces retention because your senses are being stimulated in too many ways. But this is dependent on you - REWRITE YOUR NOTES -- this is something that helps me every time: I just go through all my notes and rewrite them all . . . not retype (didn't work as well retention-wise), reWRITE. It makes you go slower, more methodically through things, and you'll retain a lot. - FOOD IS A NO -- food is a distraction (except drinks): avoid it - GROUPS -- I don't like to study in groups, but some people do . . . I'd rather sit and study all by myself - AREAS -- for me, the study lounge is the best -- especially when there's noone else around. Find your "happy place" and stay there until you're done - SLEEP -- I pull all-nighters regularly (4 in 8 days last week!), and I do fine -- just remember to KNOW YOUR LIMITS, and *know* when you'll be too tired to make a difference. Personally, I had a final last week and I slept one hour that night, and it made all the difference -- I'd have fallen asleep if not for that hour of rest -- *know yourself* and the number one thing: CONFIDENCE -- Confidence is the key to everything . . . even if you don't know anything about the test, just have confidence. And I'm not talking about the quiet, arrogant confidence. I'm talking about the mouth-foaming, Jose-Lima-like (when he was good) confidence. Jump up and down, yell and scream . . . YOU ARE THE BEST AND YOU WILL DO WELL . . . NO, NOT JUST WELL, YOU'LL GET AN A . . . NOT JUST ANY A . . . YOU'RE GONNA GO THERE AND KICK THE **** OUT OF THAT TEST SO BADLY, IT'LL BE COWERING IN FEAR WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH IT!!! Really, just get totally juiced for the test, and you're bound to do well. Take your nervousness and turn that energy from a negative to a positive. Personally, I'm a good test-taker, but my key is confidence. I can take a test over stuff that I know nothing about and get an A on it just because I'm confident about it. Confidence is the Key! Good Luck!!! ------------------ "Up and down, inside out, outside in, some you lose some you win" -- DMB -> "Sweet Up and Down"
The best place to study is the UGL (if you know what that stands for then you should read on). There is the 1st floor for group work. The second floor for computer breaks and gaming. The third floor for major quiet cramming time. ------------------ ------------------ Hakeem: "Exit Suugar Lan"
The link still isn't working... ------------------ "You brought a Pomeranian bowling?" "What do you mean "brought it bowling"? I didn't rent it shoes. I'm not buying it a beer. He's not gonna take your turn, Dude."
