that's what I'm saying. It's not really about the flag itself but the intent/context of it.

There is more to the story than that.

kid tears down Mexican Flag at Klein High on Cinco De Mayo

you got to read the comments on the story, most people are supporting the kid who tore down the flag, so this one person writes what about respcecting property. someone responded what about respecting the law as if displaying the flag is illegal. LOL

Wow. These school administrators will bend over for any tiny little controversy. This is a school IN AMERICA where kids are wearing AMERICAN flag T-shirts. I guarantee that if there were school on the 4th of July in Mexico City, no one would be told to take off their Mexican flag apparel. Whether or not these kids were trying to be provocative, these administrators are absolutely pathetic for bending over on this one.

    1) Re-read my quote and notice the word "if."
    2) Look up "hypothetical" in the dictionary and see if you can apply it.
    3) Take the stick out of your ass.

So let me get this straight. You support the students who wore Old Glory's right to free speech but the Hispanic students who exercise their free speech to criticize should get punished?

What he meant was don't punish anyone until there is something to be punished (such as a committing a violent act against one of the flag shirt wearers).

They are in AMERICA, not being allowed to wear a shirt with an AMERICAN flag on is just ludicrous. Hell, St. Patrick's day is a day to celebrate Irish culture and people cans till wear shirts with American flags on them. That school must be run by idiots

He wrote "start trouble" which could mean a lot of things. For example the students wearing the American flag apparel started trouble since they riled up Hispanic students.

Yes - I notice these things, again, I'm going to ask what basis on which you are offering your "guarantee" about the hypothetical dress code enforcement policies of schools in Mexico, DF on the 4th of July.

Is it due to your unique background as a student in such district? Or are you just hypothetically, and in reality, full of sh-t? (incidentally, i imagine most school kids in Mexico wear uniforms, so your hypothetical and the associated "guarantee" is probably incorrect.)

    Flypaper for stupid.

Honestly how many of you morons ever graduated high school, or did you just shout "THIS IS AMERICA!!! LAND OF THE FREE SO SUCK IT!!!!!" repeatedly every time you were asked to do homework, report to class, be quiet, stay after school, etc?

Ok SamFisher let me clarify for you.

    1) In choosing Mexico City I was just choosing any hypothetical major city outside of the US.
    2) My point was that no other country than the US is so fearful of torts/protests that they would ever make someone remove patriotic apparel that is being worn in full legality.
    3) Take the stick out of your ass.

First, this is not remotely close to being true. I trust you haven't been out of the country much.

Second, for like the 10th time, minor school students in the classroom are not able to exercise the same kinds of constitutional rights as adults.

It's ludicrous that anybody would ever believe that they do, yet buffoon after buffoon in this thread is lining up in order to put forth the false notion that school kids can cite New York Times v. Sullivan when passing a note in class, in order to escape detention. Laughable.

I have been out a few times (5 or 6 other countries). Since, according to you, this is not even remotely close to being true, please provide ANY substantial evidence otherwise.

Please don't call others' education into question when you speak like a 9th grade schoolgirl.

FYI those words were from the article, not from me. I didn't post any commentary at all.

No, I said if the hispanic students started something, then they should be punished. Punish people for the things they do wrong and there is nothing wrong with wearing a USA flag regargless of what day of the year it is.
