Those are all very good points but what if the company all of a sudden decided to pull the image and rename it something else? Don't you think there would be an outcry of some people complaining about taking the image of a well known (I'm supposing) fictional African-American character off of a well-known and well-selling product even though it is as you pointed out, stereotypical? It's really a double edged sword kind of thing.

im reading more news now that my wii gets news updates :D but i saw that some guy(hes white) rolled a pig head into a moque while prayer was on and they let the guy off with a warning and only 1 year of jail is he goes back.

other story: basically some black dude jumped a white lady on halloween and they have the FBI all over their ass. up to 25 yrs. they said it was a hate crime thats why. but how was the mosque-pig head thing not a hate crime??!?!

this country is SO GOOD at discreetly filtering out all the colors. its not even funny anymore(im informed enough to figure this out). many people still dont know.

An important separate dimension is the physical assault, which I'm pretty comfortable seeing punished more aggressively than what is essentially vandalism, trespassing and disturbing the peace. Goodness, you know how many old-timey race riots (y'know, when the roles were reversed) were started based on rumors of blacks asaulting white women?

Was there, also, a specific statement that the pig's head incident wasn't considered a hate crime? Also worth considering that not all states have hate crimes laws, and not all crimes provoke federal attention.

Lets open back up the wounds, shall we? Lets whip up on dead horses and continue to have blacks as sensitive victims who need to be protected from all form of white oppression and racial insensitivity....

(Actually, after 3 years I finally decided to use the USER CP function and there I saw it listead all the threads I have posted in. Instead of trying to remember each one but forgetting what I posted in now I can keep updated, YAY ME! :p )

It seems consensus thinks these kids are "stupid" and ignorant. I haven't seen anyone say it was actually funny, so good....now thats progress :)

To me its not so much what they're doing but that it's tied to the educational institutions in some way. If a student is making an official visit to the school with their parents and are being chaperoned around, then see 3 students in the distance with their faces painted black and looking ridiculous, I'm sure the parents or the university won't be liking that. If a stud running back who is black stays a day or two over on a recruitment visit, sees 2 kids walk into a house one with a rifle the other with a noose he's gonna say "maaan I'm OUT this B---TCH".

Kids can't help that they make friends from clubs and extracurricular events, sure. Some of their real friends are gonna be in these organizations and their might be residual images of their organizations that happen to be around them when they throw their own private parties...But there's just always gonna be some dumbazzes out there looking to stir up crap. I agree, no need to make everything public scandal. Black people know there's gonna be some white people who don't hang around them, don't know anything about them, and really don't give a sh--it about them. Every occurrence of it isnt always Jim Crow re-emerged.
