If it was an actual rule, how come the principal couldn't show the father any sort of written policy when he met with her?

Dorothy: "We're not in Kansas any more, Toto."

Toto: "Bark" [translation: thank god for that too ya stupid b****, Kansas is filled with ass backwards morons.]

As I wrote, as long as the students comply, a school can make up any rule they want. They can have a rule that you can't say anything negative about the President. If no one complains, the school has just violated freedom of speech. If someone complains, that rule will be stricken quickly just like the rule in this instance was.

its principals like these who work for the sake of the power in their hands and not for the childrens education.

this rule is as stupid as not allowing kids to have facial hair.

    It is an Alternative School?
Is that the school where they send the 'bad' kids
    fighting, gangs, etc

If so . . .I can see the reasoning of not allowing these kids to
speak a language the teachers do not understand

for all they know. . . the kids could have been plotting to kill the teacher
not likely. . . but possible

They will sue the school . .get some doe . .and all will be over and done

I don't know how you do things in Juarez, Pedro... but here in Idaho we have something called pride.

That's so dumb. Must have been a slow learning day or something.

Are you talking about shows like The Mexicans on 101, and stations like that?

I don't listen to 101 cause I just don't like ragaeton, unless there is a cute hispanic girl near by. And then, I still don't like it.

Maybe the teachers are concerned about cheating if the students are communicating in a language they don't understand. The suspension was rescinded anyway, so I don't know what the big deal is. I would have been happy to get a half day off when I was in high school.

The fact that you say you dont know whats the big deal is the truely shocking statement here. And if they are concerned about cheating....no wait let me do it like this...THEY are concerned about cheating in the hallway, by speaking a different language? Have they banned French? Italian? German? How about sign language?

Imagine what would happen if the principal stepped foot in the Spanish class. The entire class would be suspended, the teacher would be fired, and all the books would be burned.

That's stupid. If I knew a language other than English and somebody asked me a question in that other language, the natural response would be in that language. I wouldn't even think twice about it.

This makes no sense. If an order is not legal/ethical, the student has no reason to obey it. If the student was asked to steal something and refused, should he be punished?
