TJ, I am dealing with a superheavyweight of abusive seething middle aged dysfunctional discontentment who has no hobbies or concerns other than litigation to the fullest extent of the law - his way or the highway, which I will opt for soon enough.
Sam, I don't know exactly where you work, but giving you the benefit of doubt that you work at a top line firm, you know you give up your time for the cash and rep.
I'm down. Just saying that's the price you pay for working at a top line firm, assuming you're doing that, of course.
The bankers I know who used to work in NYC worked disgusting hours and some of them ended up with some pretty gross health issues due to stress, long hours on the job and long hours in a seated position (if you know where I'm going with that one...). My buddy who is graduating from Virginia law school is taking a job in San Diego at a top notch firm. He said the partners there are much more reasonable than in NYC.
If he is working for the biggest San Diego firm (I forgot the name) my old roomate summered there and said it sucked. But then it can't be worse than this, although the money is a lot less.
I got some friends at Goldmans and they don't work too hard for their money. Not like friends at Sullivan and Cromwell did, or Cravath, or Fried Frank, or Sherman. I think everyone should know if you have a choice, take the bankers hours .
