no they don't suck. nobody said they suck. but if you think wilt was stronger than shaq, you're wrong. if you think players back then are ANYWHERE near the level of athleticism or power, YOU'RE WRONG. and you think shaq can't handle the ball? dude what have u been watching? yes, he just has no jump shot. but why do u need one when u can dunk over anybody. shaq has put facials on some of the strongest big man during the 90s. again, it's VERY VERY difficult to compare different generation of players so whatever we say here, IT'S OPINIONS. they never played v. one another. so we don't know. but trust me, a prime shaq, 7'1, of 320 lbs of pure muscle and strength, c'mon man. wilt was 7'1 and 275 in his prime. shaq has 50 DAMN LBS OF MUSCLE/POWER/STRENGTH on wilt right there. that alone would tilt the favor to shaq.
sadly he's far from the only person who thinks that. shaq could put up 12 and 8 this season and yao could put up 25 and 10 and you could ask the average person who the better player is, most would pick shaq. yao's been better going on 2 years now and it's really not even close.
Oh yeah.. just yesterday, this guy at my work said Shaq is better than Yao and I got HEATED real quick!(he was black too by the way) I was like "ARE YOU FREAKIN SERIOUS?????" LOL! He was only 18 or 19 mind you, but only people who DONT know nba basketball say stupid crap like that.
Explain to me then how Wilt had better bench press numbers than Shaq and was Big 8 high jump champion 3 STRAIGHT YEARS. I don't remember Shaq ever competing in track, much less becoming SEC high jump champion. Wilt had the physical goods, in fact he's probably the only player in NBA history capable of outmuscling Shaq. Shaq has decent handles for his size, but he has no perimeter game, at all. Wilt had a jumpshot (most people forget this), and you don't play for the Globetrotters unless you have good handles. Wilt put Hall of Fame bigs like Russell, Thurmond, Bob Petit, Willis Reed, and Cap on posters and schooled them. Who has Shaq owned, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Ben Wallace? He was not the best center in the NBA early in his career, and wasn't until Dream/Robinson started to decline. Wilt in his prime was 7'1", 280-290 pounds, strong as or possibly stronger than Shaq, definitely more athletic than Shaq, better perimeter game, better quickness, and better court vision. Anything Shaq can do, Wilt can do better (aside from shoot FT's), and Wilt could do things Shaq couldn't even dream of, like leading the league in assists. Shaq himself knows that he is not on the level of Russell and Chamberlain. He said so himself in several interviews. I think Shaq would know better than you or idiotic sportswriters who write off the 60's players.
What bothers me is people, I mean maybe the majority of people, including those know-better GMs(dont forget most of them are used to be salesman), are trying their best to reject the truth: Yao has been a better player than Shaq the last 2 season. They just can't accept a "skinny" asian dude come all the way here and dominant. Oh well, guess theres nothing we can do about it. lets leave it up to Yao to expose their stupidity.
no, shaq said those things b/c first, they're LEGENDS. 2nd, they have more championships than shaq. and shaq did call himself the MDE so i think he thinks of himself as the most dominant ever. again, it's all opinions w/ what u say and what i say. i don't think u know how athletic and quick he is in his prime. all i know is if they match up, shaq would get wilt in foul trouble so quick it's done with.
Alright you two. Stop arguing. Only way to settle this is to take battle this out in a video game. I don't play that much basketball games so you two will have to find a basketball game where you can use Wilt and Shaq. I prefer NBA jam but I dont think they have Wilt in it. The game will also need online play capabilities. With that said, LETS GET IT ON!!
Are you sure it is 50 LBs of muscle/strength? Not 50 LBs of fat/injury? I remember a NBA player called Tractor Traylor or something. He is about 330 LBs. Will you say he has 60 more LBs of muscle/power/strength on Wilt? and 10 LBs of muscle on Shaq?
