If MDA couldn't teach defense and got assistants for it JVG can do the same thing on offense. This group already knows how to play offense, they need realtime counters for defensive tactics and JVG is miles ahead of pringels. Also there would be no slacking on defense.

I wonder how much Jeff gets paid as a commentator and whether Tilman has the cash to make it worth his while to take on a much harder job.

Harden loved playing for MDA and I think he is going to ask for a trade.

I would love to have JVG back, but I do have trouble seeing or believing how he'd mesh his slow-the-game down, high accountability on defense, half court offense with Harden. Plus what do we do with no bigs? JVG has never had a small-ball team roster like this.

He had the Ewing-less/injured-Ewing Knicks... the 1999 team he brought to the Finals had Chris Dudley and Marcus Camby though.

Ya, I remember camby and larry johnson and those guys, definitely a more "traditional" team

    Very possible

*When Thibs was mentioned, the knock on him was that he runs his players into the ground. Then he came out
and said in a statement that he would tone it down. He read the criticism.

*Shortly after that D’Antoni was strongly criticized for short player rotations.....he then came out and said he recognized
he needs to expand his rotations. Did he? I guess he did and he didn’t.

    * JVG has a reputation of being strict. No word on what he has promised recently.

I believe Morey asked D’Antoni to play guys he has brought in. Gut feeling is D’Antoni may have said well, I’m not
really feeling it. Morey would have some assurances that he has more pull on player personnel playing time on the next coach.

First Faried and now DeMarre Carroll. Morey has more faith in his stats than D’Antoni did.

We have spoken about Cassell in the past. I’m guessing he gets the gig.....as Clutch has pointed out.

Who knows what these coaches are promising.....and if they stand by it.

Side note: I think D’Antoni is salivating over the Thunder job. He loved that point guard attack of CP3-Shai-Schroder.
Plus Dort. I think he trades Steven Adams for a Jerami Grant (Denver) type player.

I love JVG. He has become a Houstonian and really loves the Rockets. BUT if you think Mike had short rotations, guys with potential can’t get off the bench with JVG. Plus he needs a big to work with and this roster won’t cut it

This group knows how to do everything, but they lack consistency. Sometimes they make the right pass, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they make all the proper rotations on defense, sometimes they complain and stop trying. It's hard to know from the outside whether the coach is stressing the details enough or whether the players are just collectively mentally undisciplined regardless of coaching.

As much as I like JVG, he hasn’t been a head coach in the league in 13 years.

The Rockets always cast a very wide net. We're going to hear about them being "very interested" in many different potential candidates. Best to take it all with a grain of salt.

I hope Morey is involved and Tillman isnt at all......I'll accept whatever Morey himself personally finds.

Love JVG as a TV color man. The best. But coaching wore him down. He'll be happier, and we'll be better, if he stays where he is.

    Popavich tree
Denver Nuggets assistants they do so much with so little
