Per W-Mac: "You'll learn real quick that most people HATE Stro on this board (watch out). I, however, am not one of them. I think he will be an asset to this team when he comes back." I liked the Swift signing and have not given up on him. He is quick and athletic and we signed him to a reasonable $ contract. I wonder how he would do in the Sun's system? Running, speed-Antonini (sp?) has a fleet system. Stromile does not seem to fit / mesh with this "slow it down" coach.
I haven't given up on Swift either. He was the Rocket with the most points in the previous loss to the Suns and can definitely play on both sides of the ball in a faster paced game. BTW...you need to get over this "slow it down" stuff...the Rockets took 7 more FGA's than the Suns. You have been watching the Rockets' transition tempo since they started getting healthy, right? This Suns' game wasn't lost for one and only reason...Suns 3pt% = 40.6 // Rockets 3pt% = 22.7. EDIT: In another thread, you mention Van Gundy waving his arms to slow things down. What game are you watching? Please give me a game quarter and time. I am not seeing this at all. Except for obvious quarter close-outs, he's always encouraging them to force tempo.
I still have faith in Stro he was really showing me something before he got injured again. In this last 3 games @ PHO 13pts/5rebs/4blks (27min) @ LAC 12pts/6rebs (19min) NYK 9pts/3rebs (17min) if you extrapolate that its not too bad given his time on the court. I still feel he is our PF of the future and just needs more time to adjust. J
Last time he came back from injury he played really great. Let's hope it is the case this time AND he starts to be consistent from now on.
I don't want to give up on Stromile either, but Juwan and Chuck Hayes should hold down the fort nicely at the 4 (neither is Elton Brand of course). Stromile can play backup 4 and 5, but if he can be shipped out with, say, Luther and/or our draft pick (our backup point guard slot might be filled by Vasilis Spanoulis) and bring us a 3 or a 2 with size (not that I can dream Seattle will blow it up and trade us Rashard), then we'd have to look into it. Most important: JVG doesn't seem too thrilled with Stro, so any good opinion we might have of him might not save him for this team's roster.
I heard Chuck Norris tried to roundhouse kick Yao, but JVG started to eat Chuck. Quickly, Chuck reacted and started to eat JVG. When the dust cleared, they had eaten one another and traded places.
Awesome! Chuck Norris as our Head Coach would Rock! We would definately win multiple championships with CNorris teaching our team how to be tough. J
True people felt the same way about Yao because he wasnt averaging 20/10 after his rookie year. He has slowly but surely developed and is really becoming a monster since his surgery. Stro has never had the PT to really develop and I hope JVG will focus on that when Stro comes back. If Stro had the encouragement and opportunity given to Yao he might become the all around star PF we have been hoping for. 15pts/10rebs/3blks a game would make him the perfect compliment to the big man. J
I agree. I love Yao but I also agree that he had the total support and opportunity given by the team to groom him to become a star. As for Stro, he has problem to even get the PT to prove what he can do. Be patient with Stro. We know he has the talents to get it done.
15pts/10rebs may be a stretch but even at 12pts/8rebs thats KMart numbers and well worth the MLE. He just needs time on the court and health to really develop into a solid PF. J
I used to post all the time on this site and even though I have a new alias I have been keeping up with the SS haters. I dont hate this guy (yet) and I think it would be stupid to give up on him now but I also am very nervious when he is on the floor in crunch time. As far as last night is concerned I belive what he is able to bring to the table (a big man who can move well and run up and down the court) would of benifited the Rockets when Yao was on the bench greater than DM.
