Yeah, I know. Really, aren't we all trying to figure out what the reasons are behind playing Howard more than Swift at this point?

I think Juwan did fine tonight. Stro did too.

Juwan did well in a stretch during the third quarter. Other than that, it was pretty ugly.

Howard is interesting in that he's sort of consistent game-to-game, but he's extremely streaky within games. I'd bet that when Juwan is on the floor, there are more streaks from both teams than usual.

You got the breakdown on the numbers for our 2 stud PFs for this last game yet, Durvasa?

Ok, you guys got your wish. Stro played in crunch time tonight. I took the liberty to examin each play that Stro was involved with.

Read through this. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY JVG LIKES JUWAN MORE THAN STRO. Stro has mental lapses between his spectacular plays. During crunch time, JVG would rather have solid play than the highlighs.

    7:30
Stro gets the ball and holds onto it in the paint for several seconds. Doesn’t pass it out until 3 seconds left on the shot clock and Bogans is forced to take a quick shot which he misses.

Next possession Yao makes a bad pass to Stro as Stro cuts to the basket between 2 defenders. Turn over.

    6:35.
On defense next time down the court, Stro concentrates so hard boxing out Pollard by facing him that he lets a loose ball pass right by him. Stro had his back to the basket. Is that how they teach boxing out?

    6:10.
Stro fights for an offensive rebound off a Bogans missed free throw. Although Stro doesn’t get it, he affected the play and Luther comes away with the loose ball.

    5:52.
Stro and Head set a great pick n roll and Stro clanks the wide open shot.

    5:28
    Stro gets a defensive rebound.

    5:08.
Rafer cuts to the basket and drops off a pass to Stro in the paint but Stro isn’t ready. Stro bobbles the ball losing all momentum on the possession. He throws it out to Head who misses the shot.

Pacers rebound the ball and Stro needlessly fouls.

    4:00.
Stro lollygags down the court and isn’t even in the picture yet. Fortunately, Pacers take a quick shot and miss. Head and Stro are UNABLE to hookup on a 2-1 fast break …that was only available cause Stro didn’t get back on defense on the previous play.

    3:52.
Rocks pull it out and setup the offense. Stro gets a monster dunk on a great assist by Head.

    3:35.
Peja shakes his man free and gets a layup …over Stro.

    3:02.
Peja shakes his man again but Stro comes over late on the double and fouls Peja in the act of shooting.

    2:48.
Bogans has a great entry pass to Yao. Yao spins baseline. Stro bolts to the rim with wild abandon and interferes as Yao goes for a layup …that Yao misses. But at least Yao got fouled. What was Stro doing? Stay out of Yao's way!

    2:11.
    Great block by Stro.

    1:40.
    Rebound by Stro

    0:59.
Pacers get 3 offensive rebounds and Stro’s man (Foster) at least touched the ball each time until he finally grabed it, put it back and got fouled. Stro was a step behind each rebound.

    0:58.
Peja gets an easy layup off an inbounds play …by squeezing between Yao and Stro who neither were facing the play. Neither Stro nor Yao even reacted much less jumped. Both were in position to block Peja’s shot. Horrible defensive breakdown.

Time out. Juwan comes in for Stro.

0:28. Peja drives and misses badly. Foster gets two putbacks over Yao and misses. Juwan tips to ball out to Rafer which leads to an easy layup for Bogans.

0:25. JVG takes out Juwan and puts in Bowan to guard Peja. :)

    Rest is history.

Stro had a few nice possessions in this stretch. But he also had some HUGE mistakes fortunately it didn't cost the game.

Stro had a game saving block that was huge for us tonight. He came up big in the 4th for the second game in a row.

    I applaude him for that.

Overall it was a great win for the Rockets.

Do we want to look at possession by possession when Juwan was in there? If it had not been for Juwan hitting 3 jumpers late, his game would have been totally .....awful.

Your point is made but I blame Yao for Peja's layup at 0:58. That was a HUGE lapse that could have cost us the game. If I get the chance, I'll look for Stro on the replay. Stro definitely had some lapses on both ends, no doubt, but he did OK. People will remember his blocks and the dunk more than the mistakes.

I was ready to yell at the set when he held the ball at 7:30. Our ball movement was crisp and Stro suddenly decides to iso. He should be barred from holding the ball in one place for longer than 2 seconds.

There was 2+ minutes in the game. I wouldn't call that game saving.

After that "game saving" block, Stro screwed up two more plays directly resulting in 4 points by the Pacers.

Stro's highlights looked good but his mental lapses more than made up for the highlights.

    Huge win.

    Good posts, Krosfyah.

If you want highlights, Swift is your man. If you want consistently half-decent play, then Howard is (sadly) the best we can do.

I don't think people realize how consistently Stromile is in the wrong position.

Dude if you put JH's game under microscope like that, you are due to find some mistakes too. Stro contributed to the win, that' s what matters. relax.

Juwan was terrible in the first half tonight, but give him credit because his jump-shot making in the 3rd got the Rockets back in it.

Hey, why dont you hop off of Juwan's dick for a second. How are you going to blame the "blown alley-oops" on Stro? How is that his fault? Everytime an alley oop was thrown to Stro tonight, the ball was WAY under-thrown. I know this for a fact because I was at the game. EVERYTIME! The guy can sky, so why not throw it to where only HE can get it? Dont even try to blame that crap on him.

Oh, and you want to make a big deal of him missing a wide open jumper....how many did your boy JUWAN miss? I dont even think he took a shot within 18 feet. BTW, he missed 6! Dude come up and get a breath real quick then go get back down south!

Good recap of Stro's play krosfyah. Entertaining to read, I might add.

Basically, both PFs are good at different times of the game and against diffrent opponents. We should be flexible enough to change our PFs around as the situation warrants. I guess JVG has been doing that.

Oh yeah, Stro can't make the entry pass to Yao as someone has pointed out. That's huge. Juwan is very underrated as a passer.

No, he can't. He's playing under the basket where he's supposed to be, letting our perimeter players make the entry pass.

When your PF is making the entry pass, it basically means you got one guy on the boards, the guys he's throwing the ball to. Because the PF is standing 17-20 feet from the bucket.

    LOL
