i agree that stromile is terrible. that guy is so raw. he looks so terrible when he tries to post up. his post game is horrific. what a terrible #2 pick. i think he's just as much as a bust as kwame brown was as a first pick.

what pisses me off so much is that stromile thinks he has a good inside/post game. whenever he gets the ball down low, all he does is put his head down and force it up. he NEVER looks up and NEVER passes it back out. his inside game is so ugly. he has no handles and no feel for the game.

I really think people should lower their expectations regarding Stromile. The numbers he puts up this season are very, very similar to those he put up last season.

    2004/05
    MPG: 21.3
    FG%: 44.9%
    PPG: 10.1
    RPG: 4.6

    2005/06
    MPG: 21.8
    FG%: 48%
    PPG: 9.3
    RPG: 4.9

My expectations were that Gundy & Ewing would have an opportunity to coach Stro and see what they could add to his game. I went in with eyes wide open that it could either begin to gel around Xmas, take longer or never "stick". I have had my first real glimmer of hope - but I'm not ready to declare Stro a finished work with double-doubles almost every game. But I will say - keep it up Stro! We need you!

Swift just looks r****ded out there. With Cato it wasn't like he didn't have any skills or wasn't a smart player. It was all about being motivated. With an iron fist over Cato he played to his full potential. With Swift I don't think it is a motivation issue. I think it's cause he's just plain ol' dumb.

I don't think it is intelligence, I just think it is simply a matter of him not being confident in his assignments.

Repition will work wonders, he is already coming around.

I think Stromile gets vilified for his perceived lack of intelligence, but I think it is simply a matter of him trying to fit in...if you remember correctly Tmac had the same issues for the first 2 months last year too.

Swift's last two games have been OK but it's nearly 30 games into the season to be saying that. For the most part he has been worse than awful offensively and defensively, he doesn't give them the brusing PF this team desperately lacks. Plus he's trapped in the wrong offensive system under JVG - he looks like he'd flourish more in an up tempo system like Phoenix's. As long as JVG is here, that's one style of basketball we won't be seeing played in Houston.

Yeah..I think Swift lacks confidence and just needs to get accustomed to playing for us....and hopefully he can continue to play well..so when Yao comes back..we'll have another guy ready to play well. I still support him

For those who bemoan how bad Stro is - his stats do not agree with you. Because he hasn't learned his spots in JVG's system - this caused extra fouls and some turnovers. However even in those 'bad' games most of them he still has excellent per 48 stats. Ryan Slowin puts up no stats but high hustle. On 5 man unit stats Stro and Yao combine far better than Yao and Jho.

I honestly think the guy just does not fit this type of offense. He needs to run and gun with a team that will allow him to get ally oops and easy baskets...he is not gonna work well in a half court offense unless he gets easy dish off points.
