I think this probably say it better than anything.... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LBOCE3eue3Y"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LBOCE3eue3Y" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
i hope it lasts for him....i was excited to get him and dissapointed by the outcome. he was classy in his exit though....i never heard him say anything publicly even after he took less $ to come here. to bad it wasnt one year earlier!
Not bad coaching, but sometimes it takes different approaches for a player to thrive. Steve Nash did not reach MVP status until he got to D'Antonio. Some players are built for a run and gun type of game.....Stro is one of those. DD
Stro is a simple basketball player - scoring on dunks and transition. He can't succeed in a slow paced, complex offense like JVG's or Mike Fratello's system. He's a player that works more with Don Nelson.
3 good games...he's on his way to the HOF for sure. this is nothing new. a few good games will be followed by more bad ones. Also, swift was always able to put up box score stats fairly well, but that doesnt really mean he is playing well...if you know what i mean
exactly. you can say he'd get more points and rebounds if he played more but you could say the same thing for ryan bowen. he generally doesn't get more minutes because he's generally not helping the team. i loved signing swift and i cheered for him to do well but by the time chuck hayes arrived on the scene i'd had enough of stromile. he's a nice guy and he left without bad-talking but his mediocrity is his own fault. if he put half of hayes' effort and preparation into his game, he'd have far far less critics. van gundy once said some players play the game because somebody will pay them millions of dollars to do it, not because it's something they love to do. i have to believe he was specifically talking about stromile.
okay guys, I just dropped Chris Wilcox and picked up Stro on the basis of this thread... I already messup up once this year and traded away Caron Butler for Ron Artest... I need steals and blocks... hopefully Stro will Produce...
You messed up again. The Grizz team bus will hit a bump and Stro will be out 20 games with a dislocated fingernail. Then late in the season, pinkeye will strike again. Sorry.
Stro would do well for any bad team with medicore coaching. He will get good numbers and his team will lose. Stro has nothing to offer a contending team.
Stromile Swift has always reached his potential. He had 3 statistically good games (well, every grizzly did after their newfound super pace) and has followed that up with 3 games averaging 11pts, 4.3 rebs. It's not like Swift was going to continue his high numbers, otherwise, he'd be on my fantasy team.
i always thought he could flourish in the right offense. with steve nash as his point guard, he could have been mvp.
