I'll take Brock over Fedor at this point. Regardless of what people are saying, Rogers had him in trouble and Rogers isn't in Brock's class. Roger's conditioning beat him as much as Fedor did but that was literally the perfect punch. Props to Fedor on the win but he won't beat Brock if the fight somehow happened.
I like it how suddenly Brock is viewed as so great by so many when he has literally accomplished nothing in the MMA world. By the way, if you actually watch the Rogers fight carefully, you'll see Fedor had very little trouble in it although it was definitely sloppy at times. Brock has yet to fight any high caliber fighters in their prime so when that occurs, then we can bring him into the conversation against Fedor, who has done so in his past. Don't so easily buy into the hype Dana White and UFC creates.
you should rewatch the fight if you think fedor was ever in real trouble. if you are referring to the gnp by rogers only 3 of the punches actually landed. it's like people saying arlovski had fedor in trouble because he was outboxing him (even though most of the shots were missing) before fedor unloaded on him.
accuracy and power, and versatility, that's Fedor's strenght. He's not know for defense, he always attacks. For him, offense is the best defense.
I'm not buying into the hype at all. I'm buying into the first world class athlete (who isn't older than dirt) entering the MMA as a heavyweight. It doesn't hurt that Brock was a phenomenal college wrestler and an obsessive competitor. Fedor has never faced anyone with near the speed, strength that Brock has. On the same note, Brock has never faced Fedor but he has faced decent heavyweights (Mir, Couture) and killed them both. Rogers beat himself by walking into a telegraphed punch with his hands down by his waist. He was dog-tired and beat himself as much as Fedor beat him. I don't get guys not appreciating the fact that someone with real athleticism has joined MMA heavyweights.
I totally agree that Brock has real athleticism and I give him full credit for what he has done in college as a collegiate wrestler, and even what he accomplished in the WWE (because those guys have great stamina. But, lets be totally objective when examining his MMA career. It's still in it's infancy and he really is not that young. Fedor (33) is only 1 year older than Brock (32) so Brock really did not enter MMA at such a young age. However, there have been people training their whole lives to fight and Brock will never be able to catch them in skills or techniques. He does have GnP, great wrestling, and huge hands. But he should not be considered a great MMA fighter (e.g., Silva, GSP, Fedor) until he has competed more often and we truly see a test of his skills. Personally, I would be excited to watch Fedor and Brock fight. It would make an interesting fight but I wouldn't mind watching Brock fight someone closer to his size either, like Rogers or Carwin (very disappointed about Brock being out for the Carwin fight).
