Every time Rogers grabbed him Fedor just relaxed; no one is better at calming themselves in a grapple.
Lesnar is more of a physical freak than Rogers. Yeah, they may be similar in size, but Lesnar is better-conditioned and is 265-280 lbs of muscle. Not to mention the guy moves more like a light heavyweight in the ring and is/was a hell of a wrestler. Lesnar would pose more problems for Fedor than Rogers did. Whether or not the outcome would be different, who knows. Maybe I need to watch the fight again, but it didn't seem to me that Rogers was gassed as much as you guys are saying. I think he did get scared a couple of times and tried to calm down, and yeah, he was tired, but gassed? Maybe I didn't watch him closely enough because I was watching Fedor so closely.
It's hard to tell whether or not Rogers was fully gassed or not. It seemed like he had trouble getting up at some points - there was one instance in the fight where Fedor gets up to begin striking again and Brett remains on his knees and then Fedor attacks him again... it could be him being scared or tired... hard to tell either way. As for Lesnar, I don't think the fight between him and Fedor would be easy for either guy. After tonight, I wouldn't mind seeing Rogers fight Lesnar either...although Lesnar could outwrestler Rogers, Rogers appears to be a stronger striker standing up at least.
Yeah, that's the thing I thought about during that fight - that a Lesnar/Rogers fight wouldn't be bad, either. Lesnar doesn't necessarily go for a knockout, but I've never seen anyone use a hammerfist like a meat tenderizer on somebody's noggin like Lesnar does. I mean that dude wrecks faces with that move. I think Lesnar has so much power behind his punches that he could easily knock the hell out of pretty much anybody or at least knock them loopy. And once that happens, he goes into his freight train stance and he's on you pounding the crap out of your head. And of course, he has incredible wrestling ability and weight to keep you there and imobilized, too.
Rogers was obviously fine with the stoppage. Generally, if a fighter believes it was a premature stoppage, he'd be protesting as soon as the fight was stopped. Rogers was still sitting on the canvas a couple minutes after the fight was over.
Actually Fedor used to be a pretty deadly ground and pounder too, and that was what he was initially famous for in Pride. Take a look at his fight vs heath herring, opened his face right up. But after a hand injury some time back he started to look for submissions more when he can to protect his hand from injuries. Apparently he injured his hand against Rogers, don't know if it's the same injury. Overall though, not impressed by either Rogers or Fedor in this fight. Rogers' lack of conditioning practically gifted the fight to Fedor it was just a matter of time in the 2nd round, and Fedor wasn't looking sharp either.
There were rumors when Lesnar first started doing MMA that he got KTFO by Brett Rogers in sparring at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy when Rogers was still training there.
Sparring rumors...how the hell can anyone take them seriously? Supposedly Shawn Porter knocked out Manny Pacquiao and then news reports the next day said Manny whooped up on Shawn Porter. All BS without testimony or evidence.
Yes, and he didn't mind a bit about being underneath the guy, he may have even planned it-two armbar attempts from the same position. Also, notice how he lands a left hook on his chin, knowing that Hong will think he's going to go low for the takedown.
The problem is Mousasi would need to be in the UFC - so at the moment, the chance doesn't exist. But he has stated interest in joining the UFC after his fight contract ends with Strikeforce. I would think Dana would jump on signing Mousasi especially if he is still on his win streak after the contract ends.
