Agreed. Must be 2D. This is my personal favorite video game franchise of all time. Can't wait.

BTW, I stopped paying attention, but as of 2 years ago there was still a strong tournament scene for multiple games in the franchise, including Toyota sponsorships and 10k in prizes for the finals. Not impressive compared to FPS, but it's got a strong following nonetheless to get that kind of action considering it's so far out of the mainstream spotlight. Also, one of the frequent attendees of the big tournaments is the same guy that made the final table of the WSOP.

I really wish Capcom would do a remake of Marvel vs Capcom 2, the greatest game of all time. I know they stopped because of the Marvel licensing, but I'm sure they could fill up 60 characters w/ the Capcom universe.

I'm somewhat disappointed that Ryu & Ken haven't really aged some more since SFIII...but who cares, as long as another SF gets produced.....also, the game better still be somewhat 2-Dish....

Edit: ProfJay, are you talking about Evolution? Tournaments still go one these days across the states...there was an Evolution Tournament a few months ago that took place here (I live in San Diego) at the San Diego Comic-Con...the finalists, I heard, got to play on a huge screen smack right in the middle of the last day of the convention.

Edit Again: Forgot to say, thanks RC for keeping us up-to-date with the latest news.

Might want to check this place out if you're looking for some competition: Shoryuken. I don't think the 'top pros' play much online though. Shoryuken.com is the place for anything SF related.

    A tournament finals vid:

And while checking up on the scene, here's the equivalent of Tmac's 13 points in 35 seconds, Marvel vs Capcom 2 style that went down recently!!! Effin' awesome: Evo 2007

The folks that compete in the Evolution Tournaments are beyond crazy...we're talking character tiers, glitch exploitation mastery, damage statistics, and obscure & effective combo'ing. They use characters in ways that I've never could've imagined.

Edit: Is PS3 going to have some online Street Fighting? Anyone know?

I could never pull off Zangief's move on SNES. I ended up getting an SNES Advantage.

its too hard to pull that move off on a D-pad type controller.
the people I knew with the SNES had modded arcade controllers to play on SNES.
they use the SNES to practice for arcade tourneys.

Yeah, there was on that Capcom made specifically for SF2. One of my friends had it. It was ridiculously overpriced.

PSN and XBLA will both get Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD in 2008 it seems.

I imagine that if SFIV will be released on the PS3, it will be online as well.

I might be wrong, but I think I read that much of the staff that worked on this game has been split up into multiple different projects, so a sequel to Dead Rising has sort of been put on hold. I'm sure they'll get back to it at some point though.

BTW, there has been no confirmation about SFIV being 2D or 3D, but I'm probably going to assume 3D at this point (especially if the teaser is any indication...not to mention it is pretty hard to make HD sprites IIRC). If nothing else, I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be 2D.

I am just wondering how this will be better than Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. That game was AMAZING.
