I basically majored in Street Fighter II in college at UH. I was probably the second best at UH. I played in a couple of tournaments. One was street fighter II and one was Street Fighter II Championship and came in second both times. I never got into the later versions since I graduated and stopped going to arcades.
White. Most the top players at UH were Asian. The kid who beat me in the second tournament I played in was black.
Here's some great news for SF2 fans. Hori is releasing the Real Arcade Pro 3 for $99 in December. They initially released this earlier this year for Japan only and it was quickly sold out. This is a MUST for any hardcore fighting game enthusiast. $99 is much cheaper than what they were selling for previously ($119+ and $20-$30 shipping from Asia). Features: * Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK arcade stick * Hori snap in buttons * Turbo button with three settings; Slow, Normal, Fast * Stick lever can be set as digital, left analog, or right analog * Quick disconnects on wiring for buttons * USB wired for PC and PS3 compatibility * PS/Home Button XMB(Cross Media Bar) navigation * Button layout: I'm definitely in for one, maybe two. I'll also be swapping out the Hori buttons for Sanwa OBSF-30. I believe Sanwa joystick/buttons is what the original arcade used. PS3 HRAP3 X360 RAP EX edit** woah, it's $70 shipping from Asia from PlayAsia.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is following soon. Now that I have confidence. Its almost embarrassing how much I have fallen off in SF2.
Man, that's some cheese. Oh well, I've found that people who rely on tricks are usually one-trick ponies. I found that it's like riding a bike. You just have to jump on and knock off the rust, and you'll be riding rad, competing with the best on the helltrack in no time.
i won 13 in a row when i went online in player match room. of course i started losing when i went to a room full of the elite players i know. i have the cheap hori stick, i prefer that xarcade.
After doing some research, I found a keyboard/mouse adapter for the 360 called XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus that will allow the x-arcade stick to work (since it's essentially a keyboard. The XFPS completely circumvents the MS licensing crap that only allows a handfull of licensed manufacturers to make controllers. It's a little steep at $99, but since I'm already in for $200 with my stick, I think I'm going to order one. I'm on vacation and away from my 360, but I can't wait to get SF2HD and start kicking some SF butt.
I'm impressed to see a few serious fighting game people here. If MvC2 comes out and is arcade perfect w/ no serious lag (considering how fast competitive play is) I will finally buy a next gen system and a real stick. I will also probably get fired from my job and lose my social life...but MvC2 is worth it.
I wonder if they re-balance it. I doubt it. That game more so than any other Capcom fighter had balance issues. The fast characters "sprites" have the advantage. I also am not in love with the 4 button setup. Still one of my favs though.
I would welcome an additional 'rebalanced' mode. More along the lines of making other characters stronger instead of nerfing the top characters. It could breathe some new life into the game, but I'd probably wait and see what the community thought of it before buying.
I agree with pulling off moves using a controller. I remember it being much easier on the Super Nintendo d-pad. Anyways, I play on PSN. My handle is "paolojackson" if anyone wants to play me.
