Does anybody remember Wafer dunk the other night and he had several other strong dunks I don't recall Novak ever touching the nets. I think we should keep both right now don't honestly no which one to take.
agreed on defense and the questionable decision making and passing like the game vs. the thunders...didn't he get the steal and then screwed up on the play when he shouldve waited for his team.....i like how he would try and drive in and make something work for himself, but i personally would rather see him shoot 3s...
i completely agree with you. Wafer is one dimensional and we have shooters already with barry alston head battier and brooks. tmac and artest can hit the 3 too. we need another player who can create for himself, defend and also occasionally hit the 3, which is strawberry. comparing the two, is similar to comparing ray allen and paul pierce or jj redick and michael pietrus. or korver and harpering. i could go on. relax on wafer, he just had a good shooting game tonight.
i would chose von wafer because watching strawberry last season he isn't good enough offensive-wise in the nba..at least von wafer is showing some potential..and even if strawberry's got good D..he still wont be able to stop the top guards in the league..so it's not going to make much of a difference since the only way to counter a great guard in the league is with good offense...and strawberry obviously won't score on his star defenders and wouldn't be a great +/- if u know what i mean. VOn wafer can counter the better guards in the league for sure with his offense..
Man we got to keep both these guys for now they are too good. The guy thta has to go for a trade thru draft picks is Luther or harris or both. Remember we have to keep our flexibility for the future. Wafer and Stawberry are great atheletes but the key is they are 6foot 5 and Luther is barely 6'3. My 15 man roster looks like this. Rafer Alston Ron Artest Brent Barry Shane Battier Aaron Brooks Joey Dorsey Steve Francis Mike Harris Chuck Hayes Carl Landry Tracy McGrady Luis Scola D.J. Strawberry Von Wafer Yao Ming
Von is a KEEPER! He might not be shootin lights out every night but the guy can flat out ball. It's also nice to see AB running to point so well. He's coming along nicely.
Wafer was nuts tonight, did he really improve so much miraculously from last year, or should we wonder when is the next time in his career that he will ever play like he did tonight? It's going to be a tough cut of the roster.
Aaron Brooks! Damn this kid can play! I'm so glad that we have him here. He has been drawing a lot of attention defensively from opponents, and creating open shot opportunites for team mates (Wafer tonight). I have a feeling this is going to be a special season, and this kid is going to be a big part of it.
You just judged that by strawberry's black on powe? Actually straw is way better than head in defense so that he seems a little bit more fit for rockets which is a team famous for tough defense, but why did suns trade him just for a guy being cut off? luther is a little bit weak mentally and phisically, but why does coachK took him to the selection team? And luther still got 7+pts in the regular season games with only 17 minutes game time. Head is disappointing because we expect him to do too much, as a late 1st round draft, his performance deserves his draft rank and his salary that is just 2m/yr. And his three pointers in the largest-number consecutive games in rockets history? I would rather cut straw.
I'd rather have Von Wafer over Luther's sorry ass any day... Wafer can create for himself... how about that last three he hit where he took one dribble to the left and then just drained it right in his defenders face (in the very clutch of the game). Dude may not be able to create against 1st string perimeter defenders but I'm sure he can against 2nd units which is where he'll likely be playing. I like Mike Harris, but I don't think there is any room for him.
Regardless of last night game, Von has look better than Strawberry, Luther, or Harris. He just flat out smooth. He cuts well. Move well. Even when his shot dont fall, he was able to drive to the basket. I give alot of the credit to AB on creating open shots for others, but players need to know how to move and get to the open spots. Von got that in him. Strawberry just look a lil awkward when he move with or without the ball. Just my 2cents.
I trying to look at this from a team need stand point. As good of a defender as Dj is he not as good as Shane. In other words the defensive wing specialist role is all ready filled. If Barry gets injured for any stretch of time this year, I would rather see Wafer taking his minutes because he will be able to hit the three at a high clip weather its a contested three or a open one because he has the size and the athleticism to get high elevation on his shot. As much as I like Mike I think you have to let him go back to China if we need him when can just pick him up mid-season like we did last year. We have to much depth at 3 and the 4 for him to get any meaningful playing time. I would hate to be the coach right now alot of hard choices to make.
Opticon, Good point! Defensively, we already have Ron, Shane and even Joey can throw his body around. We need a second unit that can score when Yao and TMac resting. Second unit need to be in there to keep the score up.
