And were you seeing the same issues after his summer league debut or did you see some improvement ? I know it’s one game but just curious if anything stood out that was different

He looked like a completely different player from the OTE games and the TBT game. Very disciplined and controlled with every aspect of his game. Plus he wasn’t forcing things like he would at times in the games I watched. The coaching at OTE looks like it’s atrocious compared to what he’s getting in Houston now. All of that gambling and roaming he was doing before is completely gone even just from watching a few quarters.

That kind of development combined with his IQ and focus makes me really excited for his future. He seems like he’s a better player when he’s going against better players and when he has better players around him. Also this development makes me feel a lot less worried that he will never develop a serviceable jumper.

So glad Silas is gone. Coaching matters and this culture change is great to watch.

People read an over simplified scouting report that says Amen is a crazy athlete with a busted jumper, and assume he's another Darius Miles, MKG, Joe Alexander, Derrick Jones Jr, (insert low BBIQ player who jumps high and can't do much else).

I'm not going to take a victory lap after one summer league game, but its obvious this thread is based on player stereotypes that don't apply to Amen. His pre-draft strengths are literally the hardest skills to develop as a player.

There are two main types of NBA bust in the last 30 years, the guys doomed from the neck down and the guys useless from the neck up

    Neck Down:
    Adam Morrison
    Jalen Suggs
    Jalil Okafor
    Jimmer Ferdette
    Jan Vesley
    Dragan Bender
    Alex Len
    Mario Hezonja
    Kris Dunn

    Neck Up:
    Thomas Robinson
    Tyrus Thomas
    Stromile Swift
    Joe Alexander
    Evan Turner
    Willey Cauley Stien
    Stanley Johnson
    Marqueese Chriss
    Josh Jackson
    Mo Bamba
    Marvin Bagley III

Overlooking athletic deficiencies seems about as disastrous as overlooking skill-based ones. On top of that, dudes like Marvin Williams and Tyson Chandler can remake their careers much easer than the ones who phyisically can't hang in the NBA.
