Phoenix was never a threat to anybody in the first place talkless of a "big threat" and even more so to us. They are paper tigers. I do not even get where you got that threat talk from - the only mountain to climb is San Antonio - everybody else in the west is simply not civilized enough to stand toe-to-toe with us. Next time we talk about serious contending teams make sure not to mention the useless Phoenix team.
it doesn't sound too bad though. he's a good kid and i wish him the best. i'm sure he'll be fine. he'll still put up 24 & 8 on the season regardless.
You hate seeing anyone get hurt, much less a franchise player. I'd rather hammer the Suns when they're at full strength since I think people are overrating them this year. I'll tell you what, drugs are flowing freely if they think they can win 50 games without Stoudemire. They're basically saying that, minus the Stoudemire they're as good as the Rockets and Mavs and Nuggets of last year. That's insanity and desperation talking.
Take it from a guy with knee troubles from playing basketball. Once you get that first injury, your knee is never the same or as strong again. Especially with the way Amare plays, he will be in and out of the MRI room for the rest of his career. Take a nice look at Kemp and McDeyss' career Amare, cuz thats where you're gonna end up, just like I always predicted.
For a young guy, Amare has been injury prone, doesn't bode well for him to start having knee problems at 22 years old. I like our big guy Yao because he is a rock, he has missed 1 NBA game in 3 years with the flu if I remember.
It's actually two games. Yao's gigantic legs have probably saved him from having the leg problems of other massive big men, like Shaq, Sabonis, and Big Z. (Knocks on wood)
the great big men have always had to adjust when they lost their athleticism (karl malone, chris webber). both of them became deadly with the mid range and even long range jumpers, and using their strength on the inside to draw fouls, rather than jumping over people. if you remember in the early days, malone was pretty athletic. amare at some point will have to do the same. knee and cartilage problems usually are not a good sign. it's not something that ever gets better. the best that can be hoped for is preventing it from getting worse.
In terms of Amare vs. Yao, I guess this is one thing that Yao has over Amare - Yao is more durable. Amare is sort of an injury prone player. Before last season, he also was out a lot of the season with injuries (ankle I think). Amare will probably end his career a couple of seasons before Yao, despite being a couple years younger.
Not necessarily. I mean, look at Bobby Sura. .... uhhh wait.... Rockets play phoenix on Nov. 23rd. Sure would be nice if we didn't have to play against him.
people are blowing this WAY out of proportion... it's not like it's a tear or anything...look at willis mcgahee of the bills, that guy had one of the most horrific knee injuries i've seen and he's becoming one of the best tailbacks in the NFL. amare is going to be fine. he just needs to rest and not rush back because at only 22 or 23 years old, this guy has a limitless future. i had a friend who tore his acl in high school, sat out a year in basketball and actually played better the next year. doctors and rehab specialists are truly amazing nowadays. you can actually come back stronger after injuries now...i did after a BACK surgery.
It's not surprising to me at all. At least they're a little better than the Laker fans. If you go to lakers' forum, a lot of them predict lakers are gonna contend this year.
You have to wonder what type of people celebrate when someone gets injured. Where I come from those people are called haters. I hope Amare is ok and can get on the court, I love the rockets and I love the NBA, and players like Amare are what make the NBA what it is.
i hate the word "hater". idiotic, in my opinion. anyway, since this has been bothering him all summer, this condition is clearly serious enough that amare didn't want to draw attention to it by having it checked out and so forth months ago. i'm sure that if it was suspected of only being a minor problem, amare and his agent would have decided, let's immediately attack the injury. however, the pain probably was chronic enough that he and his agent decided to hide it from suns management before the contract signing. as much they love amare, suns management probably has to be privately annoyed, and possbily even angry.
I've seen Yao take some hard falls on those legs of his. I can recall one time where I believe he was undercut in a Memphis or Portland game and was in a cradle position with his arms wrapped around his knee. I thought his knee must have snapped or something. Time out was called, commercials came up, and the big fellas is right back out there. I swear Yao's calves are the size of a normal man's thighs.
I'm not sure about "celebrating", but I don't think I'm hating by feeling positively about such injuries. I mean, do you think Pistons fans were feeling "down" because they made it to the finals last year due to injuries to Wade and Shaq? Of course not. Let's suppose, Duncan miss a few games against us in the playoffs this year, wouldn't that constitute "good news" to Rockets fans? I don't exactly wish injury on anyone. But it's not like I should feel pissed off that the Rockets might not see Phoenix at full strength this year.
