Man!! I am hugely bummed out. :( I don't like the Suns that much or their fans, but this is terrible news for Amare and the NBA. I really wanted to see how good Amare was going to get and now he may never be the same player ever again.

If he is out 4 months (until mid-February), he may miss the entire season just to play it safe. I doubt he will be a factor at all this year and the Suns may be headed to the lottery.

This stinks stinks stinks for everybody.   This is not positive in any way whatsoever.

The real question is does this affect his explosiveness. That's Amare's game, jumping and running. If he is limited at all, that completly messes with his game.

With ~$75 mil on the line, I'm not sure I'd do the "right" thing and tell the management about the injury. Plus, Amare really might not know the true extent of his injury. So I don't exactly think badly of him as a person.

Although I must say, he did really screwed over the Suns management and fans. If the Suns had retainted JJ and Richardson, then at least you can say that the Suns' future is okay with the Amare/Marion/JJ/Richardson quartet. Now, if Nash and Thomas go into their normal declines, this team could be a two-men show with Amare and Marion in 2007. That just isn't enough to contend.

You have to hope that this unfortunate injury doesn't affect Amare's promising young career...

BWHAHAHAHAHA! Go Roxs! I hope he misses the whole year. Two years would be great too, but I'm not greedy.

I don't want to see anyone permanently crippled or anything, but beyond that, I'd like to see every star the Rockets play against blowout a knee or two. Injuries are part of the game, and when they happen to your team, no one else will show any mercy and no one else will care. So why should you feel any differently?

heh as everyone can see from my name im a suns fan too.. definately Rockets fan first. I was bothered when amare said he was better than yao but he probably might of been or was definately better in many aspects of the game. It does suck to see such a amazing talent go down like that.. Imagine if Lebron went down.. ruins the exciement and competivness of the game. Amare was definately going to be something really special in the league for many years to come. Now it all depends on how he recovers. Sucks for the suns. .it seems like they cant get a break.. They signed penny hardaway to that big contract and then he had knee surgery and was never the same player. Now they just invested their future in amare and his statu is up in the air. I bet they regret giving him that contract now .. what sucks the most is I CAN TOTALLY SEE DAMN LAKER FANS saying "HAHAH GOOD THING WE DIDNT GET HIM"
    damn fakers

You know that none of those guys are going to run. And you know that even after Amare gets back, he's not going to run like he used to until next season. This has a huge effect on that team.

And while Amare and Marion might be young, Nash isn't. The Suns have a smaller window than you think. Again, great news for the Roxs.

No one gave us any sympathy when Ralph blew out his knee, John Lucas went crackhouse on us or when Lew Lloyd and Mitch Wiggins got the heave ho from the league.

Sucks to be a Suns fan....

Got to get in line behind the Hornets, Hawks, Blazers, Raptors, and those loveable Bobcats. Plus, the draft won't be as deep this year with the age limit coming in.

Chris Webber had the microfracture surgery after he hurt his knee in the playoff game against Mavs. What did he do? Torn his cartilage?

This is a horrifying news even for a non-Suns fan like me. I really don't like the Suns, but Amare is such a superior talent that this is a great loss for the NBA.

    dang that really sucks..

why does this remind me of the grant hill situation? i hope he isnt in and out of surgery for the next 4 years.. rehabbing rehabbing rehabbing.. he might even be better off sitting out the whole year rather than risk making it worse rushing it..

It's amazing that those Suns fans are still dreaming about playoffs!!! There's no way they could make it.

So true. Ralph Sampson's knee cost us a dynasty. You gotta feel for the Suns fans after the season they had last year, but for all we know Amare will be fine or the Rockets would have simply kicked his ass anyway.

I never liked Amare, but only because the Rockets had to play him and he was so damn good. It really would be a shame if the NBA lost such an incredible young talent, but I can't say I'll shed too many tears if the Rockets win a couple rings without pounding a 100%-healthy Stoudemire.

As far as the contract signing goes, I don't blame Amare one bit. If you don't think the front office would have held the injury against him in negotiations, you're dreaming. Hell, they may even have traded him to Toronto, who knows! As soon as Amare isn't winning games for his team, the NBA is just going to dump him in a gutter somewhere, so he needs to get those millions to take care of his family for the rest of his life while he can.
