amare is not a thug, damn i want him on my team! has anyone ever seen the espn special on him, it was like VH1 behind the lines, or The Life, i forgot what its called but he had a tought time growing up , but damn has the body of a 30 year old! jeff
" For the record, I am half Black half white, so I can say whatever I say about both races. " LOL. Hilarious.
I am really, really, really, really, really hoping (as are we all) that Yao gets a second wind soon---for Yao's sake (ROY), for the team's sake (most important), for MY OWN SELFISH sake (you da man, Yao), and so we can humble these God-I'm-bored-YAY!-a-new-bandwagon-to-ride! sportswriters.
Who cares? I'm a 16 year old African-American,and I'm here to tell you you're embarrasing both races. You don't need to bring anyone's mother into anything, you're outta line.
I dont know what makes you racist, but I can see what makes you a f***ing idiot. You sir, are a classless little punk and your comments about Amare better describe you than they desribe him. Dont go away mad, just go away.
Im not defending anyone here, but I find it absolutely hilarious that 1. Person can use Ching chong wang ah soooooo and fake kung fu moves and he's just joking....not really a racist, just a bad joke 2. A person can call someone a thug, and low class and is racist. Unless Heyp is assuming the STEREOTYPE is that all Black, BBall players are thugs and have no class.
i'm not saying that Val is a racist. but the differnece in my opinion is, that Shaq tried to make a joke (ok so not everybody thought it was funny) and that Val tried to say something bad about a person. i think the whole shaq thing is blown out of proportion, but everybody has he right to they're own opinion. but i do think the comments that Val made where out of the line. Stoudamire hasn't done anything wrong other than playing good basketbal. and therefor calling him a thug and low class is not good, IMHO. i didn't know stoudemire had such a difficult childhood, i got alot of respect for the man now that i know.
What I meant to say earlier is that I motion that this thread be locked, and I continue to think this is a good idea, since this thread no longer has much to do with basketball. At least move it to the Hangout forum. ...but for the record, Dreamshake, I think Shaq's remark was in fact both racist and a bad joke. And maybe it doesn't make any difference, (it does however make a small difference to me), but the fact that it was said in jest, if also in extremely poor taste, makes Shaq's situation, to me, different from this one. (I will, however, henceforth refer to Shaq as 'dumbass' from now on, or something more appropriate.) I think Shaq's being unapologetic upset me more than his remark. But certainly we live in a society where we differentiate between a prejudicial culture against African Americans and a prejudicial culture against Asian Americans. For both right and wrong reasons. Then again, what else is new? And isn't it amazing how I can say absolutely nothing in one sentence?
....and 100% dumb ass. For the record I have been very impressed with Yao and Amare both on and off the court. Amare said some nice things about Yao--sure he said Shaq will take him tonight, so what, 90% of the other league players and experts think this and Amare said Shaq is one of his role models. Also, isn't Shaq scheduled for an apology conference today. What Shaq said was prejudice and he should have known better--I think he will say as much today. I'll admit if it isn't sincere that will make me think of less of him. But please lets not compare what he said in that context to John Rocker or something.
Priceless....that is heeee-larious. And I bet you weren't even trying to be funny. Now that's some f-ed up logic.....
Excellent observation. That's exactly what I thought when I read heypartner's post. He was stereotyping. Primitive post, too, by the way. But I have to admit that I find this whole thread pretty funny .
