In a couple of years, some GM is going to seriously regret being the guy who traded for Amare.

The more Bosh and Amare are discussed as potential Rocket deals, the more I think that we will be giving up way to much for either of these guys. I'm not saying I'm completely against them, but I may prefer staying pat and building up through the draft and wise (yet maybe unspectacular aquisitions). We have a couple of older players, but most of our team is young. If we can draft a player or two with a high ceiling, we could be a solid contender in the next year or two. First priority is a 7-footer. Give him a chance to learn NBA-style play, hope that Scola can keep doing what he does, hope that Hill can continue to become a rebounding machine who learns to average 15pts, and find away to get either a sharpshooter or another player who can take it to the rim, and we will be a contender for several years.

I know that's a bunch of "ifs", but I don't want to give up all of our assets for Bosh or Amare and find out that we screwed up....and then we have to start building assets from scratch.

If ur gonna tell me his "attitude" is the reason we don't pursue him, then ur not trying to build a champion. Can't have whole team of Shane Battier's

Amare Stoudemire doesn't know if he would re-sign with the Suns this summer even if they offered him a maximum contract.

"I’m not sure only because I want to win a championship," said Stoudemire. "Cash is one thing, but winning is the ultimate goal." It sounds like he's conceding that the Suns, down 0-2 in the Western Conference finals, aren't built for a championship. According to a source close to Amare, he also feels "disrespected" by the Suns after they dangled him in trades for the past two seasons.

Man you guys need to smell the coffee!
Fact is if we got Stat he would be an upgrade to this team. Yes, he lacks defensive intensity often, but i think under Adelman and his system that would increase, because he would have to play D.
He puts up great numbers, would be a great player in pick and roll.
He really is a great player, think id prefer Bosh though... lol

I think Amare would be average without Nash. He is already a below average defender, to add to that.

your saying steve nash is playing defense and amare is not? maybe if nash set an example of playing defense at any point in his career he would inspire others to do so as well. its kind of hard to want to play defense when your pg plays none and is receiving back to back mvp trophies...

Translation, the Suns still aren't offering the full max.

Amare is following the footsteps of Shawn Kemp, one long lockout season would seriously derail the career of this so called superstar

Shawn Kemp had drug and alcohol problems. He also ate his way out of the league. None of those things relate to Amare. People really sell Amare short.

what I mean is that he's one or two wrong decisions from screwing his career, based on his attitude alone...I hope I am wrong though

He's never done anything that would suggest he would screw up his career though. I just find it ridiculous that people say he would be nothing without Nash. It's like they have not watched him play in the last 4 years. People tend to overlook the fact that he makes Nash better as well. They compliment each others games perfectly. He isn't a good defender but people are begging for Bosh and he's just as bad if not worse. Amare just gets criticized a lot because he's so athletic and could potentially be an elite defender if he put in more work

You could easily say the exact same thing about Bosh

are you serious? what is wrong with people who always say XXXX is nothing without nash. Does Nash make Amare better? yes certainly! but to say he is nothing without Nash is just being ignorant and not really watching the game of basketball. If you actually watch the Suns games like I do you will see that Nash gets Amare a few easy baskets off the pick and roll but Amare has a amazing face up game. He can take a lot of PFs off the dribble and also just pop for the 15-18 footer. He has a great offensive game but just lacks the desire to play D. Also check his stats when Nash was out. They are just as good if not better.

LOL are you really arguing that it's Nash's fault that Amare is a bad defender? At least Nash's counterpart (Fisher) is only shooting 41% for the series. Gasol is shooting 70%! He keeps getting uncontested dunks and layups because Amare keeps blowing his defensive assignment. Which sucks because I hate the Lakers.
