Signing Amare to anything near a max deal would be a disaster, and Morey will have none of this.

If any team's GM considers signing Amare to a near max deal, their fans should give up on their franchise or threaten to hold out from coming to games.

Whoever said NBA GM's were smart with money? These guys gave chumps like Jerome James, Jim McIlvaine, and Jon Koncak millions of dollars just for showing up.

I would trade Battier, Scola, Jeffries, and a first (that was the deal right?) for a re-signed Amare.

    Yao / Hayes / Andersen
    Amare / Hill / Harris
    Ariza / Budinger
    Martin / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Sign either Mike Miller, or Tracy McGrady for the MLE.

Well he might be Rockets Plan B now that Bosh has announced the 5 teams he's like to be traded to ( rockets no on list ).. Problem is that Amare has proven once again that he has no clue to what playing defense is; he's a dunking machine but that's about it. He's going to want a long term deal but I don't think the rockets would be willing to do that or would they now that all top free agents are deciding for Other major markets ..

Where in that article is proof that he's given up on his team?

I really don't know what Amar'e has done to most of you guys for the hate he receives here. If anything the guy has always disliked McGrady, that is a plus.

Amare better hope and pray LeBron, Wade, and Bosh avoids Chicago like the plague because there isn't another team out there that can provide him with:

A point guard that can take on scoring duties if/when Amare decides to mail it in.

A center that can mask Amare's blatant lack of defense.

I hope Mavs get Amare for max.

    Get it done, Cuban.

I would totally lmfao. Hell, I might even start watching Mavs games again just to laugh at them.

Keep this guy away from the Rockets. The latest debacle with a prima donna should be enough lesson.

Without Nash, I see Amare putting up 16/6 a night.

Exactly. And he knows that this might happen. Pretty sure he'll re-up with Phoenix for this very reason.

If Amare somehow ends up in Utah (maybe the Jazz shipping Milsapp to Phoenix?), the Basketball Gods must LOVE Stoudemire.

And who knows, maybe Jerry Sloan of all people can drill defense into his head.

Do not want. I think Amare is highly overrated, doesn't play a lick of defense, rebound and not worth anywhere near the money he'll command. I just don't get why some of you think he will make the Rockets that much better.

Esp. since he couldn't play well with Shaq, who at his age is still more mobile than Yao Ming who will just be coming off surgery. He also won't have Nash feeding him the ball. To be quite honest, I'm not sure how Amare will get his points if we start playing half court, he doesn't really have a post-game and if Nash isn't there to get him the ball near the ring I don't know how he's gonna score. He can shoot jumpers, but he's no Dirk or Bosh. I don't want to pay max money for a dude who can't create his own offense.
