Asking JVG to coach this team would be cruel and unusual punishment for him, and probably the players too. If looking for a new coach, I'd like to give the young former RGV coach a chance.
If strictly basketball, is Ime qualified? "yes", but the problem is the same hard decision that the C's had to wrestle with; your HC is one of the face of your franchise. We don't know if Udoka has a sex addiction, but at the very least he has boundary issues, where it spilled over to his coworkers. Assuming we have crystal ball that Udoka in one year with therapy changed his stripes, his history still pose an organizational exposure. There are bad actors out there where a female could have a cry wolf case. (the stripper that blackmailed part time pastor, and at the time GSW coach Mark Jackson. FBI got involved) If it's only coaches that we want to yell at the young guys; don't we have two 'bad cops' already in Lucas and Lionel? How has that worked out. If Rockets hire Ime, what do you think that first press conference will be about: the Rockets or the Celtics summer? Is this the kind of circus distraction you guys want. And which NBA assistant coaches would risk their career to come under Ime to come to HOU? Start of season, I had some spirited debates with die hard Celtics fans. They thought Joe couldn't hold Ime's jock strap. That their team would crater without Ime; I argued the opposite. p.s. Keep this man away from Vanessa, Felicia and Tari's mom.
Heckuva good question. Nets backing out is a red flag. But, is he truly toxic? As a coach he is ideal!
I'm not convinced the game hasn't passed JVG by. His offenses back in the day were anything but creative. He was the personification of ground and pound in the NBA. Love his personality, his passion, and desire for teaching. But not his offense game planning.
If we are going to fire Silas now mid season I'd like to see Abdelfattah get the rest of the year. If this is going to be an end of the year firing then Udoka.
Ime is the obvious choice here. None of the other candidates can compare to what he did in Boston in that short amount of time.
Hell no. U go from rookie coach to another one? If we do fire Silas, promote Hollins or bring in Mark Jackson. We don't have time to experiment
As I understand it, "sleeping with team owner's wife" isn't a problem for the Rockets. Perfect match.
Did the team owner fire his wife? Was that his only offense or were there others in a subordinate role in the org? Having an extra marital affair only should not be a blackballing offense. Having multiple affairs within the organization, especially if any were subordinate, is a blackballing offense. What happens between consenting adults is their business and the spouse’s business if there is one. What if she initiated the affair? Does he have grounds for sexual harassment, since he would be clearly be in a subordinate position (no pun intended).
I know I was just generally commenting on the thread. Udoku is fine with me, if all he did was sleep with the owner’s wife. There is a big difference between consenting adults screwing up their marriages and sexual deviants or sexual predators that take advantage of their position for sex. Our society is so quick to condemn. Not everything is as black and white as the media tries to paint it.
So you want the guy who runs Silas offensive system and critical of Sengun defense … no change other than name The Rockets have always dominated G League for awhile
The bigger problem was that those women were somehow affiliated to the Celtics. It wouldn't be such a drama if he just slept around with unknown groupies.
I want disciplinarian for these guys, a Pop like coach that's not going to take any ****. At least for a few years. Green and KPJ and the rest of these guys have some really bad on the court habits that they need to get beaten out of them, figuratively of course, not saying we should hire Charles Oakley.
Seriously Stotts? Why? I live in Portland. I had to suffer through much of his tenure. Seen him coach way too many games. He couldnt win a playoff game with Dame in his prime. Some of the worst defensive teams I’ve ever seen. They ran him out of town because of it. He wasnt a bad coach but he wasn’t a good coach either. Why are we considering him? I hate this list.
