Rox reference, but the alleged trade rumor between GS and Philly? Astounding, if true. So much so that I doubt it very big time.

    http://msn.foxsports.com/id/2592190

The Sixers traded Eric Snow to Cleveland for Kevin Ollie and Kedrick Brown. Yes, Snow's older, his skills are diminishing and he has a long-term contract, but Billy King couldn't get better than this? There are a lot of teams that could use a solid point guard (Houston?). We were thinking that because Philly now has some extra cash and way more contracts than their roster can hold, another, bigger move must be on the way right? Then we heard that San Francisco sports radio was reporting that the Sixers and Warriors were going to pull off a sign-and-trade that would send Erick Dampier to Philly for Glenn Robinson and Kyle Korver. That would be a great move for Philly, and before you kill Mully for it, think about what Golden State would get out of the deal. Even though they lose a lot of height, they get a scorer in Big Dogg (when he feels like it) a shooter in Korver, and Dogg is in the last year of his contract. That's a better deal than the garbage package that Isiah is reportedly offering of Nazr Mohammaed and Othella Harrington. ...

If Philly gets Dampier it might result in a diminished role for Dalembert. I sure would like to see if the Rockets could get him if the opportunity arises although I realize it's unlikely to happen.

Meaning what? Warriors would have taken the TE and Dampier would have taken 2nd fiddle and hawks would have yawned it all off?

It's just an observation. Maybe the Hawks don't want Dampier. Maybe they want something else.

No way the Warriors trade us Dampier, and make Yao's team a contender.

Hmm. I guess it was a good move by Dampier to opt out. He left 17 mill on the table but picked up 42 mill guaranteed. Still with the year he had and the overspending on FA this year, it's amazing that he's getting the same contract as ADONAL FOYLE.

They can't trade us Dampier. You can't sign someone else's free agent and turn around and trade him.

just an FYI, the 10% raise is not compounded each year, it's a constant 10% of the first year salary. for 5 yr, $42M, the salaries would be:

    7
    7.7
    8.4
    9.1
    9.8

it would have been nice to sign Damp.. he would make excellent trade bait to another team.

teams sign players all the time and trade them off to other teams. What do you think West is doing with the Grizz? He is collecting talent to possibilly trade up for a superstar.

I wish the Rox made some moves like that.. grab some players that are good deals but maybe not a good fit and use them to trade for players that are better fits.

Even just to pick him up and move him East so Yao doesnt have to play against him too many times a year. Well that part looks like it has worked out anyways.. just my 2 cents.

room4rentsf, why do you put a "J" at the end of your posts, just like silent j does?

Otherwise, who wants Dampier at $8.4 million average over 5 years? Does Mo make that much money yet?

Well, Damp is the third best C in the league. Shaq makes 25M, Yao will make the MAX which is 10M, I'm suer Damp is worth a starting salary of 7M.

How come no one has reported this deal yet? If Dampier doesn't slack off now that he has a new contract, then this is a great deal for whoever gets it. It's 1M more than Calvin Booth makes. Consider the difference between Booth and Dampier.
