For me I guess JMH and Matthews Motors growing up in West U. those still exist, but not in Houston I'm pretty certain he still owns quite a few dealerships, the may just not have his name in the title.
There was a Spencer's in San Diego when I went there about 3-5 years ago, I think. They still have locations in Houston and Dallas, too, I believe.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but : Computer City - A lot of their stores may have been bought out by CompUSA, I think. Globe - this was back in the 70's or 80's I think. I have a Nixon or moon-landing newspaper that has one of their adds. They were a megastore off of 610 around Braeswood, I think. Meyerland area?
You sure you didn't mean Circuit City? I still remember Warren Moon doing their commercials. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9vZSH5BfpAg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9vZSH5BfpAg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Phar-Mor wiki: In 1992, when the company had grown to over 300 stores and 25,000 employees, Monus and his CFO Patrick Finn were accused of embezzlement: they had allegedly hidden losses and moved about $10 million from Phar-Mor to the World Basketball League that Monus had founded.
Nah, there was definitely a Computer City - one of them used to be near Bissonnett and Richmond (?). I remember it was still around in 1995 or so because I was one of the geeks waiting for the release of it at that Computer City around midnight. They were giving away free pizza and coke, so I said what the hell. Of course I had to duck the news cameras as I exited. Hehe. *EDIT* : Here you go - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_City
Are Weiner's (huh huh) stores still around? I remember broke people who wanted fake fashion used to shop there.
You are doing Shadoe Stevens no justice: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9N8AzoDzQhM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9N8AzoDzQhM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I remember buying a box of Elephant 5 1/4" disks and a printer from Federated. My dad was pissed because we had just spent $1300 or something on my first computer, an Apple //e, and he was asking "we spent that much and now we still have to buy more stuff for you to run it?!" lol.
