But that's the offense RocketsMac. The Rockets are going to miss and make open 3's. You have to live with that because open 3's are good shots. Did you know they shot 10 of 22 from the 3pt line last game? That's 45.5%! That's a great 3pt percentage. The Rockets did many things wrong the last game, but 3pt shooting wasn't one of them. In fact, they should have taken more 3 pt shots at that clip. And while I'm no fan of Rafer, he was 3/8 from 3pt land, for 37.5% And the other 3pt shooters were Battier 3/4 , Snyder 1/1, Novak 1/3, and Padgett 1/2. T-Mac was 1/4. So I'm saying You Are Wrong when you said: "Rafer, Snyder, Padgett, Battier, and Novak couldn't hit a shot to save their ASS". You're spewing without warrant or logic. Please refute my contention that the play where T-Mac gets the screen and pop on the elbow is a bad play. I already showed that it's a low percentage shot and it limits T-Mac to being a catch and shoot player, when he can do so much more. I like T-Mac Pick N Rolls, because he becomes a tripple threat from that position. So I still stand by my statement, and more specifically, T-Mac's midrange game should take a backseat. The Reggie Miller elbow play is just bad basketball.
Did you distinguish between midrange catch and shoot, versus midrange shots off the dribble? Maybe he shoots the midrange catch and shoot at a much higher percentage.
^ That's only first 3 quarters of course. Even taking out the 1/7 in 4th quarter thats nothing great, but he's been out for a while so I will understand it for now.
McGrady seems to have this attitude that when the fourth quarter hits, he's free to take as many shots as he likes. If he's really hot, ok. But we should take advantage of Yao's post up game. I think he had one field goal attempt in the entire fourth quarter in Game 1.
No. In my thread about T-Mac shooting less, I only took his midrange stats from 2 years ago, last year, and the last game. I don't know how to separate the midrange shots from catch and shoot to dribble and shoot for like a thousand shots. But the converse of that is Yao. One cannot separate Yao's inside shots in terms of how he gets them (for stats purposes). Many times, Yao gets great position, a great pass, and thus an easy layup. Other times Yao makes a move and does it on his own. In both cases, I showed in my thread on page 4 and page 8, that Yao inside game is more efficient than T-Mac's midrange game...and you have to consider that Yao gets fouled plenty on the inside too relative to T-Mac getting fouled on the perimeter. I just hate the Reggie Miller play. No offensive rebounding, low percentage, a play that the Rockets themselves don't officially promote, and worst of all, it makes T-Mac 1 dimensional.
No whinning. We just want to expect a decent performance from someone who is making almost 20M. We don't want a flash (13pts in 35 seconds, flash is nice, but consistent play is more important). 33% of FGP and 24 shoots are simply NOT acceptable. A team just got about 70 shoots a game.
But, this is T-mac's team, itn't it. Or we should put it this way. If we won, it's because T-mac is perfect. If we lost, it's because Yao is soft, stupid?
I dont think Tmac has this kind of attitude.. you might be right if you put it this way though: McGrady seems to have this attitude that when the fourth quarter hits, and we are down by double digit to a r****ded team and nobody is hitting his shot, and it wont be wise to give Yao the ball because they will double and triple team him leaving all the r****ded shooters out, he's free to take as many shots as he likes. and if that's the case, I am more than happy to see T-mac take 7 shots in the 4th and miss all of them (he actually made 1) in his first game back from back injury..
Why are you calling the Rockets shooters r****ded? Did you read the stats of the game. Throw out T-Mac's 1 for 4 3pt shooting and the Rockets with the "r****ds" or Alston, Padgett, Snyder and company shot 9 for 18. At least pick a game where the shooters shot poorly from 3pt land before you spew that ridiculousness of saying "T-Mac should take every shot in the 4th".
I said he shot 7/16 in the first three quarters except the last 2 minutes of the 3rd, when he was brought back in after Utah whipped our bench players' a$$ and we were down by 15 or something (more like 20, I dont know the exact, but I know it was really bad and we had no chance) and please.. %43.5 is awfully close to %45 percent.. I dont have to get a calculator and give you the number to the nearest Hundredth (two decimal places) .. we have to do that in my chemistry class though..
dude, did you read the first post in the thread?? I provided a good explanation of his bad performance.. please, next time you want to post in a thread, dont simply read the title and then post, try to read the first post..
You did not. But plenty TMAC's fans did. Bottom line is that it is not fair to call out any particular player after a bad loss. Nobady actually played well. I do not like the way people call out TMAC. I do not like the fact that you call out Yao either. That is the reason why I quoted you. Second game will be on in 3 hours. Hopefully, TMAC and Yao can silent all of those. BTW, I actually believe that this is still TMAC's team until Yao can prove otherwise.
first of all, stats dont really show you everything.. now dont get me wrong, I am not saying that the stats you provided dont show anything, I am just saying that stats didn't tell you that Rafer started out 0/8 and most of the shots he took were off passes from Yao.. stats didn't show you that our good shooters started hesitating, then doing what I call " the stupid Juwan Howard move" were they fake the defender that is 10 feet away, and they drive to the basket just to get their shot blocked, boom, fast break --> easy dunk for Utah.. the overall performance of the team SUCKED against a below average team (I dont know about that after their sencond win) that got lucky..I mean seriously, how many times do you see Boozer fade away 6 feet and hit the shot over a 7-6 guy that is right on him ??? how many times do you see CJ Miles throwing up a 3 with Snyder right on his shoes with the shot clock going out and the ball hits the hoop, goes up 4 feet in the air, then come back in ??? my point is: dont blame the loss on Tmac, dont tell him to take a back seat, it's not Yao's team, it's not T-mac's team either.. it's the ROCKETS team.. Hakeem didn't claim the team for himself when he played even though he is in my eyes the best player to ever touch a basketball.. dont blame the loss on T-mac, dont say they need to feel the ball to Yao more.. it's as simple as this: our whole Team sucked and Utah got lucky.. btw, I really enjoy the discussion between you and me and I really respect you because you provide reasonable argument ... and dont get me wrong, when I said that this thread was a response to the "Tmac should take a back seat" thread, I didn't intend it to be a hit on you.. it was intended for all the people who jumped into that thread and started posting BS like trade T-mac and T-mac sucks...
I agree that it's the Rockets team. I didn't like that my thread turned into mudslinging either. But "taking a back seat" is not something I'm promoting myself. You've seen the sign at the Rockets' practice right? They want to be more like San Antonio. They want 3pt shots and inside shots, and less midrange shots. I'm not blaming T-Mac on the loss, and all my posts in my thread (page 1, page 4, and page 8) show that. But my contention is that great teams win games when other things are going wrong. Constantly going to T-Mac on the midrange elbow catch and shoot is terrible in my opinion. The Rockets did not promote that philosphy in any interview, and not on their own building block signs. Everything can wrong, but going to Yao will always be efficient. Rafer went 0/4 on 3pters in the first half, then hit 3 in a row in the 2nd before missing a huge last one. I hated that other 3 pt shooters (Padgett mainly), hesitated and tried to drive. Open 3's are great, and if you miss one, the Rockets need to run the same play to get the shot again. I just want them to stick with their own game plan, and T-Mac "taking a back seat" is essentially part of the new game plan that they promote. Again, I love T-Mac pick n rolls...this is why he got 9 dimes and got to the foul line because it creates a driving lane for him...he can create off the pick n roll. But the Reggie Miller play makes T-Mac 1 dimensional. T-Mac is not as good as Reggie Miller on the catch and shoot, and T-Mac can do so much more than Reggie Miller. I just want them to eliminate that play, and of course go inside more. You have to trust the system if you believe in the system. The Rockets have a system that they prepared for the season. They strayed away from their own system.
Guys, it's getting ridiculous around here. If you criticize every single thing, you will miss enjoying the season. THe season will go by and you will be like: Why was I so negative? Let's light up a joint and enjoy the game agaisnt the Mavs
