Heart is a euphamism for competitive fire - passion.

Someone who does all the little things and refuses to lose.....competes on every play even when the odds are against you.

That is absolutely one of the Rockets greatest weaknesses, they don't have that leader who makes everyone play harder and holds the team accountable if they don't.

Someone on the team needs to step up and lead....and I think it should be Yao.

Yao is going to hold everyone accountable for poor play? Sorry, I just do not see that happening. Yao will always be a "lead by example," player.

It is a weakness of the Rockets, but they won 52 games last year with the same exact weakness, and a bunch of injuries with less talented players. The difference was not that JVG is such a more fiery coach than Aelman, it is that he had a structured system with an immediate identity. While his systems were flawed, they were still structured systems. Adelman is not running a system...it is a philosophy that is based off player instincts. With only a month or 2 of practicing, they are not yet ready to run this sytem off of instincts and expect to execute like the Kings. That is why the Rockets have looked so sloppy, and other times absolutely brilliant when set plays are being called (T-Mac coming off ball, Yao getting to cut across lane to get great position, backdoor cuts, etc..).

This team may have a lack of heart (which with Scola, Battier, Hayes, Francis and James I do not believe this to be true), they just lack structure. It does not take heart to run a structured offense, it takes a coach who knows how to make the most of his talent and player's who are confident in the system and have EXPERIENCE in the system. This is not a team that is revolting or ignoring the offense...they simply are not well rehearsed on a system based off of freelancing and no real set offensive plays.
